hmmmmmmm?
A while back a tt'er who will remain nameless (BACPAC) commented about " when the #&%!$ hits the fans the marines will show up",regarding the US involvement in Afghanistan. Well...the #&%!$ has hit the fan and the marines are no where to be found. I geuss the job was left to those who are most capable. The beloved US Army Rangers and US Special Forces!!!!!!!! RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!

they would most likely use marines considering they are more trained for this terrain. rangers are more trained for jungle mishions.

for what i heard from retired or discharged soldiers.

The Marines secured the situation and left it to the Army. It is beginning to sound like the Marines need to come back in and take care of the Army, again.

Actually the Rangers and the SF guys secured the situation. then they rotated the Marines in and the Rangers out when they needed the Airfield fortified. Then when They prepared to start the ground assault of the caves, the Marines left and the Army's 10th Mountain Division came in. They are the ones currently working with the SF units to get at the Taliban.

They are all on the same payroll, and work for the same country. Both branches work their tails off in conditions that are unpleasent to say the least.

Also, GO ARMY!!

I feel bad for the families of those guys we lost yesterday. The losses have been fairly minimal so far but nine guys is still a heavy price when it's your son/husband/father.

BTW- Go Coast Guard!

They actually got on a ship?...i figure with this secret government they would be gaurding the bunkers and offices. I think they harbor some resentment for the navy holding them up on the boats..so they hold you up trying to get in the base gate.

a little boy is in the restroom at the airport and a marine walks in wearing full dress blues and a chest full of ribbons. The little boy says "Wow! are you a REAL Marine?" The Marine says "Sure kid, you wanna wear my hat?" The kid says "Ok!" The Marine puts his hat on the kid and then goes into a stall to take care of business. Then an Army Ranger comes in the bathroom, the Ranger is wearing a dirty, torn uniform, he's got camo paint on his face and he smells bad. The little boy says "Wow! are you a real Army Ranger?" The Ranger says "Yeah, why, you wanna suck my d!ck?" The little boy says "No, I'm not a real Marine, I'm just wearing his hat."

Oh bacpac, you facts are really backward bro. I think SgtRock explained in pretty well.

So the Defense Dept was trying to figure out why Rangers were so tough. They took a Ranger into a canoe and had him begin canoeing up a river,as he paddled he sang " I wanna be an Airborne Ranger". The scientist with him produced a machete and chopped off 1/4 of his head. With a shrug the Ranger regained his rythm paddling singing "I wanna be an Airborne Ranger". Without hesitation the scientist removed another 1/4 of the Rangers head,he continued to paddle unphased and kept singing. This same thing occured afew more times till the Ranger had 1/8 of his brain left. The scientist chopped one more time leaving the Ranger with 1/16 of his brain... The scientist observed that his eyes glazed over ,his shoulders slumped and he slowly picked up his paddle and began singing " From the halls of Montezuma".....

I was watching the news tonight and it appears the 10th Mountain debarked where they shouldn't have and got pounded. The radioman couldn't even stand up with his gear on. Good grief.

birch you didn't finish the story. The scientists decided to perform the same test on a Marine. When the scientist swung the machete at the Marine's head the Marine grabbed the machete and split the scientist like a melon.

Then the Marine paddled over to the ranger and pulled him back to the aid station.

It didn't get a lot of press, but during Operation Anaconda the Army asked for the Marines to provide aviations support after most of their helicopters were shot up.

The Marines must have done a pretty good job. The Army issued the Marine commander a bronze star.

Sexy sitcom vamp Ellen DeGeneres has a secret... and yours truly has the scoop! Now, keep a lid on this, but I have it on good authority that Ellen is going to have to call her sitcom Mom soon! That's right, the Dynamic Miss D. is expecting a little one! Word is that the lucky dad is former Marine David Crosby! Semper Fi!

I can just see bacpac, scanning the "z" section of the paper praying for marine involvement.

Good for the corps Bacpac, the army had to through the devil dogs abone eventually. It is typical however that jonny come lately gets the medal. The corps comes in for a quicky, while the Army has been fightin this war solo. At least you guys got to do morethan pass out bread like you did in somalia.

This also proves that marines are dazzled by shiny metal objects. The talibhan will not doubt adopt the strategy of haning pop tabs and nickels from strings when they hear the marines are comin.

Hey, it's a good job
When I'm on the ground, I don't care WHO is giving me air support as long as they are on time and on target. At least the Army commander was man enough to give the guy a medal in thanks even though he was a Marine. Would a Marine be man enough to do the same in return if the situation was reversed? I hope so too.

birch, I am sorry you could not hack it as a Marine and chose to join the Army. Your continuous claims that the Army is all alone in this fight is typical of an underachiever. A more accurate description of the Army's role in this conflict has been to act as forward observers and spotters for Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy aircraft.
bacpac

And the aircraft are "in the rear, with the queers" out of harms way.

The mountain infantry are out there humpin' the mountains.
They have "mountain legs" not "sea legs".

bacpac, I am just stating the facts. Rangers and SF soldiers were the first in, some marines setup tents and stuff took some fire, returned some fire and LEFT! Then the 10th mtn and other ARMY soldiers showed up to do more fighting, the marines do a sortie or two and get a medal then LEAVE, the army stays to fight on still while the marines polish each others guns...I mean rifles.

Bacpac I am sorry that your beloved corps has taken the backseat (literally and sexually) to the army. Maybe they can pass out some bread to some poor inner-city kids or sponsor some neighborhood watch in Des Moines...something more their speed.
