The Needles
Anyone been to this area? Have wanted to for years. Low enough to now have too much snow. Freeman Creek Trail to Soda Springs.

Looks awesome from the pics I've seen.

I've backpacked the Needles in the Black Hills in South Dakota. I recon that's not the ones your talking about though.

Sorry
The Needles in the Sequoias.

WindWalker, I have that shot as my Desktop.
Some of the most beautiful rock in the West is there.
Heard the Park is closed, but you can still hike in on the road.
Waiting for a storm to pass through to see if road conditions stay open. 190 is open to Ponderosa.

Are you talking about the Needles District in Canyonlands? I can answer any questions about that awesome place.

They keep the road plowed to Ponderosa. Lots of year round residents there... small store/cafe/bar, etc. My parents have a cabin at Camp Nelson on the way up to Ponderosa so I'm pretty familiar with the area.

I think it's 2.5 miles from the end of the dirt road to the lookout. I don't remember how many miles from 190 to the end of the dirt road 2 maybe 3 miles ?

If your interested in that area you might want to visit...

Leaving late tonight for Sequoia National Forest. Heard there's 14 in. of new snow, with a chance of some more on Sunday or Monday.
Finally get to use my snowshoes.

See Yaaaaaaaaa!!

The Weather has been gorgeous all week it was 77 degrees here in Porterville today . There is supposed to be a storm in here this weekend ...but you never know!

Are you staying at Quaking Aspen and snowshoeing in to the Needles or are you camping at the Needles?
Just Curious :)
