Backpacking "The Needles"

“Anyone been to this area? Have wanted to for years. Low enough to now have too much snow. Freeman Creek Trail to Soda Springs.

Looks awesome from the pics I've seen.”

Some of the most beautiful rock in the West is there.
Heard the Park is closed, but you can still hike in on the road.
Waiting for a storm to pass through to see if road conditions stay open. 190 is open to Ponderosa.”

“They keep the road plowed to Ponderosa. Lots of year round residents there... small store/cafe/bar, etc. My parents have a cabin at Camp Nelson on the way up to Ponderosa so I'm pretty familiar with the area.

I think it's 2.5 miles from the end of the dirt road to the lookout. I don't remember how many miles from 190 to the end of the dirt road 2 maybe 3 miles ?
