More on the NON-concensus ...

http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071221/NATION/844993096/1001

highlights:

More than 400 scientists challenge claims by former Vice President Al Gore and the United Nations about the threat of man-made global warming, a new Senate minority report says.

The scientists — many of whom are current or former members of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that shares the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Mr. Gore for publicizing a climate crisis — cast doubt on the "scientific consensus" that man-made global warming imperils the planet.

The hundreds of others in the report — climatologists, oceanographers, geologists, glaciologists, physicists and paleoclimatologists — voice varying degrees of criticism of the popular global-warming theory. Their testimony challenges the idea that the climate-change debate is "settled" and runs counter to the claim that the number of skeptical scientists is dwindling.

The report's authors expect some of the scientists will recant their remarks under intense pressure from the public and from within professional circles to conform to the global-warming theory, a committee staffer said.

Several scientists in the report said many colleagues share their skepticism about man-made climate change but don't speak out publicly for fear of retribution, according to the report.

"Many of my colleagues with whom I spoke share these views and report on their inability to publish their skepticism in the scientific or public media," atmospheric scientist Nathan Paldor, professor of Dynamical Meteorology and Physical Oceanography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said in the report.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that shares the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Mr. Gore for publicizing a climate crisis — cast doubt on the "scientific consensus" that man-made global warming imperils the planet.

"I find the Doomsday picture Al Gore is painting — a six-meter sea level rise, 15 times the IPCC number — entirely without merit," said Dutch atmospheric scientist Hendrik Tennekes, one of the researchers quoted in the report by Republican staff of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

The report's authors expect some of the scientists will recant their remarks under intense pressure from the public and from within professional circles to conform to the global-warming theory, a committee staffer said.

You idiots are worse than the original founders of the Gorebal End of the World Warning Group. You know man has some effect, but know little more than the Gore Team as to how much. You know that americans are by far the biggest producers and are so addicted to going anywhere at anytime they wish and have designed whole industries around waste and pollution that they have the most to give up.
You people really need to stand way back and take a good look at what you're trying to maintain.

Other countries are reading the same dollar store science you are. If you're being suckered by it so are they, but they're growing at far faster rates and having to make decisions about their futures. If these people follow our lead, because they trust us, and we misinformed them just to save our extravagant lifestyle, now that would be really christian of us.

OH my.....
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,318686,00.html

“I’ve made up my mind. Don’t confuse me with the facts.” That saying most appropriately sums up the year in climate science for the fanatic global warming crowd.

As Al Gore, the United Nations, grandstanding politicians and celebrities, taxpayer-dependent climate researchers, socialist-minded Greens, climate profiteers and other members of the alarmist railroad relentlessly continued their drive for greenhouse gas regulation in 2007, the year’s scientific developments actually pointed in the opposite direction. Here’s the round-up:

1. Cracked crystal balls. Observed temperature changes measured over the last 30 years don’t match well with temperatures predicted by the mathematical climate models relied on by the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), researchers reported.

2. The big yellow ball in the sky. The Sun may have contributed 50 percent or more of the global warming thought to have occurred since 1900, according to a new historical temperature reconstruction showing more variation in pre-industrial temperatures than previously thought.

3. Pre-SUV warming. Another new temperature reconstruction for the past 2,000 years indicates that globally averaged temperature 1,000 years ago was about 0.3 degrees Celsius warmer than the current temperature. Since that climatic "heat wave" obviously wasn’t caused by coal-fired power plants and SUVs, the current temperature is quite within natural variability, deflating alarmists’ rash conclusions about the warming of the past 50 years

and on and on...the High Church of GlobalEnviorSocialisim....takes one to the short hairs. (LOL)

LOL...so massive increases in cost of Flourescent lights over incandenscent, ridiculous requirements to lighten and make cars more dangerous (resulting in higher medical bills for injuries etc) meaning people spend more of their income on "stuff" to meet the fanatasy needs will NOT effect the nation?

Hey remember the AIDS epidemic of the 1980's we were all told that without BILLIONS from US there would be a worldwide AIDS epidemic by now....OOPS>

Thrifty....GlobalEnviroSocialisim is the last bastion of the old Socialists. Mostly failures looking to find a way to punish the successful. Everything requires US citizens to curb their lifestyles to meet the thrid world demands.

Eventually I am certain they will claim so many are dying from the lighter more efficient cars that only "professionals" should be allowed to drive...(LOL) meaning the loss of freedom of movement so many of us take for granted.

Keep your head in the Church I am sure you will feel better when someone else suffers.

WEEEEEELLLLLL and how bout this...you do it...but why do you have the need to impress your RELIGION on me?

I keep seeing people throw literal S-fits when someone puts a Christian Cross up...yet you want to MANDATE your "belief" (thats all it is NO real fact there mousketeer) on my life...Tell you what since we have been bailing out the rest of the freaking world since 1917 I think we are due a few breaks. (LOL)

Regardless, why can't you go live your little fringe religion and let me live my life. I see NOTHING here that represents a need for you to violate the constitution and FORCE me to change my life.

I think the story states your case perfectly. I have made my mind up don't confuse me with the facts. Kinda like talking to some member of a fringe religion who thinks "Unless we do "A" we are doomed to failure."

You guys laughed at Robertson and Swaggert when they made thier hilarious predictions to get "donations". Face it you are just as hypocritical (if not more so) because you don't want it to be of free will but rather you want to use FORCE to make people believe it....which um is actually covered in the Constitution something about Make no Religion.....

Oh this is good (LOL).....the hypocrisy shines through. So Deacon Thriftyhiker....what will you annoint as your Central ICON...I hear statues of Lenin and Stalin are going cheap (LOL).

Or you can get ALBERT...yeah...he is as close to a TREE as anything you have. YOU can make a GREAT BIG ALGORE Cathedral....and make sure you have a runway for him to land his private airplane...(LOL)

now the sacraments will be a bit hard to work out....for the offering just have people sign over their lives to you....but the whole communion thing is going to be touchy....The wafer and wine thing was taken by the Christians...hey here is an idea, french fries (looks like Al likes em ALOT)...no wait you gotta use HEAT to make em...um..wow that is a toughy.

XL400236

No need, all I need are your words above...you actually think a conservative would promote Government Control of someone's life in such a way.

Look at best you are a moderate (meaning you don't have the guts to say you are a liberal (LOL)) or maybe you are a Blue Blood Conservative, who feels the government knows best for people. But a true conservative would no more demand we shackle citizens with government regulations that are not based on carefully researched reality. There is NOTHING reality driven about the Global Warming Crap...the very fact that the Two biggest Polluters..CHINA and INDIA are given a pass is the telling part....

Look I grew up with your type, at that time we were told to control our "Imperialisim" granted those people could not show me ONE colony we had. We were told how the foriegn nations HATED us. Yet when I went all over the world, once I got out of the Big CITIES...I found a deep unabashed love for what America had done for the world. That is most evident in America's desire to be bigger and better...to continually seek to improve. But for many the thought of taking a chance....going outside their "zone of safety" is frightening. And rather than go with the natural desire to stand in awe of those who do take the shot and do SUCCEED we are being taught the successful must be EVIL.

Well you tried it by saying the RICH were uncaring...that kinda fell flat when we discovered they give a larger percentage of their wealth to charity than libbies. So then we were told they were lazy and had WON the Life Lottery...LOL. Then we found out most worked their asses off to get there. SO NOW we go with the "TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU MUST HAVE DESTROYED THE ENVIORNMENT."

This is the classic wet dream for you Socialists. There is no real proof either for or against. The studies are still inconclusive..but its the classic "dead baby" ploy....."IF YOU DON'T JOIN US YOU ARE KILLING YOUR CHILDREN." Man I could not tell you the number of times I have heard that crap.

Thrifty you may well be a "conservative" but the moment you lost faith in the individual and their incredible ability to overcome adversity (i.e succeed) and changed to believing in the ability of Government to make us better is the day you turned in your card.

XL - I've said it before - the link you posted to is nothing that significantly breaks down theories on global warming - it's just all about creating an element of doubt. Find the tiniest of holes and pick pick pick at it to create an element of doubt. It's a common tactic by those of a certain political persuasion.
Take Iraq as another example - not going well, then pick pick pick at the media to try and fuzzy the picture.
Now things appear to be going slightly better in Iraq suddenly the chorus of whining about the media has died down.

Lets take a look at your report using google. Point 1 comes from a guy who gives his presentations using a picture of Al Gore an exploding it at the end - hardly unbiased now is he.

Point 2 comes from an OPINION piece - and seems to quote out of context.

3. No one is denying that the earth has been warmer in its history.

#&%!$ me XL - as I work my way down the list - they are all OPINION pieces. They take selective little pieces of info and pick pick pick to try and create doubts about the whole thing.
