Having been around a few blocks in my time, I've never been wrong about a completely irrational over reaction to some one who is being blamed as being an idiot. Why all the objection to what he says if it is wrong? Come on let's take another idiot check here --peeka boooooo!!!!! last edited: 3/28/08 11:44:45 AM” 11:42:49 AM 3/28/08 “Sale, you do know ALBERT has NOTHING to hang his hat on for "experience" right? Grew up a RICH child of a Powerful Senator, living in a Suite in Washington DC. He is trying to deserately define who he is. One of my firefighters dated a girl who went to the class he "taught" a few years ago...said he was a BLITHERING idiot.” 11:49:43 AM 3/28/08 “global temperatures no rise in 10 years film at 11” 6:02:10 AM 4/04/08 “If the assumption is that we are pumping more and more CO2 into the atmosphere every year, and this accumulation causes temperatures to rise more and more ... How is it that global temperatures have not risen in 10 years? If there was ever ONE fact, ONE piece of evidence, ONE undeniable truth to support the global warming theory, wouldn't it be that the global temperature would get higher?” 6:56:13 AM 4/04/08 “It's easy for the public to believe when every storm has, because of population, someone in it's path that is effected. When the heat comes, many have no protection and suffer. Cold, the MSM catches every person that that speaks english tells of how this is worst in 80 years. Yet, on the other hand , that same media gives exposure to the anti- warmers that rush to the mic to tell of how wrong the Ex-VP really is.” 7:18:01 AM 4/04/08 “bottom line ... no warming in 10 years” 7:59:12 AM 4/04/08 “As of 7:59:12AM 4/04/08, I'll check at 4:00:00PM. Thanks.” 8:08:33 AM 4/04/08 8:11:54 AM 4/04/08 “The statement that there has been no global warming in ten years doesn't wash. People with an ideological axe to grind point out that this past year hasn't been warmer than 1998 which happens to be the warmest year on record. Year to year fluctuations are very misleading. The fact is the past 10 years have been warmer than the previous 10 years. So yes, global warming continues. Is global warming accelerating at an alarming rate that suggests we are past the tipping point? Obviously not. Does it continue? Yes.” 6:50:14 AM 4/10/08 “Check out this long term graph and you'll see dips and swings, but the long term trend, which continues to this point, is up. ![]() If the image won't work, the link is: http://lwf.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate/globalwarming/ar4-fig-3-6.gif http://lwf.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/globalwarming.html will give you the context.” 6:55:02 AM 4/10/08 “Again, it defies the whole argument of the global warming alarmists. Their argument is that as we put more and more CO2 into the air, the temperatures will rise. Each year we put more and more CO2 into the air, but the temperatures are NOT rising in unison with those CO2 levels. Is the earth warming this year than 11 years ago? Yes. But there are years before that that it is not warmer than. The reasons for the earth warming are obviously NOT results of CO2 in the air. Although, "scientific" graphs indicate that the higher CO2 levels in the air will one day fluctuate in conjunction with present day temperature fluctuations.” 6:56:22 AM 4/10/08 “pedxing - would you mind posting a graph that goes back 1,000 years so we can have a little more context? I wonder why those graphs end in 2000, when the temps level off. last edited: 4/10/08 7:01:29 AM” 7:00:21 AM 4/10/08 “Here you go - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Co2-temperature-plot.svg Notice how the CO2 levels follow the temperature levels.” 7:05:19 AM 4/10/08 “Here is another one - ![]() If you look closely, you'll see the CO2 levels follow the temperature levels.” 7:07:27 AM 4/10/08 “I brought my own ladder to this thread- where's the beef?” 7:07:36 AM 4/10/08 “Here is another one that shows the CO2 lag more clearly, ”7:09:45 AM 4/10/08 “Notice how 350,000 years ago, when CO2 levels took on a mind of their own, the temperature didn't follow suit. But on the rest of the graph, whenever the temperature changes, the CO2 level follows suit. Notice, of course, the very obvious - the natural changes in global temperature over time in a rhythmic pattern. Also notice, from this graph over the last 1,000 years, that the global temperature increases don't correspond to the industrial age as much as it does as the recovery from the little ice age. ”7:14:40 AM 4/10/08 “So, union strikes in the middle ages shut down the industrial carbon creation complex and caused an Ice Age?” 7:30:44 AM 4/10/08 “yeah, and the knight armor manufacturing plants of the middle ages caused things to heat up again.” 7:34:07 AM 4/10/08 “What is it that mankind does that doesn't create heat?” 7:43:39 AM 4/10/08 “I wonder why those graphs end in 2000, when the temps level off. last edited: 4/10/08 8:01:29 AM” moonglo 8:00:21 AM 4/10/08 I don't - because I looked at the graph and read the little caption before making a statement about it and saw that it went through to 2006.” 11:32:11 AM 4/10/08 “Good. Then you also saw that the global temp changes level off after 1998.” 11:36:07 AM 4/10/08 “If you want to drop the issue of whether or not there has been global warming and jump to the issue of the CO2 link with warming, I'm happy to bow out. I don't claim to know what increased C02 contributes to global warming. The graphs you provide are really too dense (many years compacted into a small space) to allow me to make conclusions about cause and effect. It certainly makes sense that warming could increase CO2 as well as vice versa. I also don't know if the evidence allows us to precisely understand the extent to which changes in one led to the other.” 11:39:17 AM 4/10/08 “Since it's has already been demonstrated that their hasn't been global warming in 10 years, contrary to the predictions of the alarmists, I'm happy to bow out too. There are other graphs that are less dense if you'd like to research and find them, but they typically won't scale well for this website. Feel free to research it further. You can even find information giving how many years for the CO2 levels to react to the temperature changes (I think it's about 300 years off the top of my head).” 11:43:33 AM 4/10/08 “"already been demonstrated that their hasn't been global warming in 10 years" If changing the subject doesn't work, just keep repeating the assertion.” 3:47:19 PM 4/10/08 “Who is changing the subject? I responded directly to your post.” 4:32:07 PM 4/10/08 “Of course its getting warmer. The temps are just now geting back up to the levels we had during the middle ages...... With oil becoming scarce the fight over global warming is a bit pointless. Human nature will be to pollute the world so we can keep our SUV's running. Soon drilling the ANWR will happen and Dont even get started on the disaster that processing tar sand and shale will create. We will try to live large right to the bitter end.” 4:34:55 PM 4/10/08 “I feel a patriotic tear running down my cheek, Lumberjack. That was heartwarming. lol” 4:36:15 PM 4/10/08 “Wouldn't now be a great time for some Ree Bop a Lu Bop Rhubarb Pie?” 6:17:21 PM 4/10/08 “Don't make a mess of home plate slugger.” 8:22:49 AM 4/11/08 “Nasa satellites show that the computer models we have been using are not only wrong but there has been a downward trend in temps in the lower atmosphere over the last 20 years. Source” 2:26:47 PM 4/12/08 “Nigal. Those guys could be right ont he lower atmosphere cooling while the surface warms. I really can't judge the evidence for myself having looked at arguments back and forth on the issue of the lower atmosphere. Its definitely an interesting link. The guys behind that site are definitely controversial and in the minority of climate scientists. That doesn't mean they are wrong. But, it is their interpretation of the NASA satellites that's posted there -not an official NASA interpretation.” 1:12:38 PM 4/13/08 “ ”11:59:45 AM 4/30/08 “My sister-in-law recently found a high school senior term paper that she wrote about Climate Change/Global Warming.................in 1966. Naw, gotta be a hoax.” 12:31:15 PM 4/30/08 “Well , at least good americans couldn't cause NO damage like that.” 2:43:02 PM 4/30/08 “I get all my hard science from high school term papers. *snort*” 3:37:07 PM 4/30/08 6:59:45 PM 4/30/08 ““My sister-in-law recently found a high school senior term paper that she wrote about Climate Change/Global Warming.................in 1966. Her father was a meteorologist for the U.S. Weather Service. It seems those guys were concerned about this phenomenon 40-50 years ago. Naw, gotta be a hoax.” I wouldn't call it a hoax because, after all, the earth temperature does fluctuate and go up and down. Just like when they were all worried about a mini ice age in the 80's. My big beef is how an unproven theory is used for power and wealth. It IS the biggest shut out of intellectual peer review I have seen since evolutionists began shutting out decent from peers. I mean, how can you have an open discussion about an issue when the self proclaimed, defacto "leader" of a movement says, "The scientists are virtually screaming from the rooftops now. The debate is over! There's no longer any debate in the scientific community about this."? Did ya ever see those charts Gore used to show how CO2 and temps match up? They don't. High temps alway precede high CO2, not the other way around.” 2:25:58 AM 5/01/08 “The warmer the temps, the more movie stars homes in the Los Angeles area burn to cause CO2. Am I rite?” 6:23:04 AM 5/01/08 “Who has the coldest name in Hollywood? George Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrns Who has the hottest? George Burns” 10:26:30 AM 5/01/08 you gotta be FREEKIN kidding me! “Ocean Cooling to Briefly Halt Global Warming, Researchers Say By Jim Efstathiou Jr. April 30 (Bloomberg) -- Parts of North America and Europe may cool naturally over the next decade, as shifting ocean currents temporarily blunt the global-warming effect caused by mankind, Germany's Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences said. Average temperatures in areas such as California and France may drop over the next 10 years, influenced by colder flows in the North Atlantic, said a report today by the institution based in Kiel, Germany. Temperatures worldwide may stabilize in the period. The study was based on sea-surface temperatures of currents that move heat around the world, and vary from decade to decade. This regional cooling effect may temporarily neutralize the long- term warming phenomenon caused by heat-trapping greenhouse gases building up around the earth, said Richard Wood, a research scientist at the Met Office Hadley Centre, a U.K. provider of environmental and weather-related services. ``Those natural climate variations could be stronger than the global-warming trend over the next 10-year period,'' Wood said in an interview. ``Without knowing that, you might erroneously think there's no global warming going on.'' The Leibniz study, co-written by Noel Keenlyside, a research scientist at the institute, will be published in the May 1 issue of the journal Nature. ``If we don't experience warming over the next 10 years, it doesn't mean that greenhouse-gas warming is not with us,'' Keenlyside said in an interview. ``There can be natural fluctuations that may mask climate change in the short term.'' CO2 Surge Carbon dioxide, produced mainly from burning fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas, is the chief pollutant blamed for global warming. Since 1988, CO2 levels in the world's skies have increased by 9.8 percent, according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Scientists debate how much carbon can be pumped into the atmosphere before the effects of climate change, including droughts, floods and reduced fresh water supplies, become irreversible. For every 1 million molecules in the atmosphere, about 384 are carbon dioxide, according to NOAA. Global temperatures can't rise by more than 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 Fahrenheit) without risking the worst effects of climate change, according to the European Union. A scenario to stay below that limit suggests that CO2 levels must be stabilized between 350 and to 400 parts per million. Long-term climate changes in the North Atlantic region affect ``hurricane activity in the Atlantic, and surface temperature and rainfall variations over North America, Europe and northern Africa,'' according to the study. `Cold Direction' ``Natural variations over the next 10 years might be heading in the cold direction,'' Wood said. ``If you run the model long enough, eventually global warming will win.'' The world will become at least 2.5 degrees Celsius warmer by 2100, compared with the pre-industrial period, Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said in March. ``We thought a lot about the way to present this because we don't want it to be turned around in the wrong way,'' Keenlyside said. ``I hope it doesn't become a message of Exxon Mobil and other skeptics.'' Exxon Mobil Corp. spokesman Gantt Walton said managers of U.S. oil company ``take the issue of climate change seriously and the risks warrant action,'' in an interview today.” 7:01:32 AM 5/02/08 “"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws." —Ayn Rand” 10:03:39 AM 5/05/08 “Ayn been Randover by dem words. Basically there's nothing we as the human race can do much, if any, about it in time to make any major difference. Bring on my crispy tan! I've already babbled about the proliferation of gas burning engines since the Industrial Revolution(which bytheway continues racing forward even today). Something else is slightly overlooked. Some parts of the poles are seeing greatly increased snows, some here say it's proof that no way could there be global warming. But, most ice masses/flows around and in both poles are seeing greatly reduced masses, and greatly increased melting over the last 2 decades or so. These melting areas GROSSLY outnumber the several growing areas. I've seen some reasonable scientific debate about these few growing areas possibly being the result of natural weather pattern disruption. Much like US's greatly increased problems of hurricanes and flooding over the last 2 decades. Ain't saying it's right, but it's most certainly reasonable. The temps of the oceans all over are either stable, or are even decreased over the last 2 decades, nearly a fact in the scientific community. Now how could we possibly be having global warming when the oceans' temps might even be falling!? Some of you have reasonably said it's proof that no way could there be global warming. But if you take into consideration that we're losing our ice flows and glaciers(well, inland glaciers have little to do with this particular example) at a phenominal record rate, that explains why the oceans too are not presently rising with the rest of the globe. If you run a bathtub full of cold water, and then put a couple of buckets of ice in it, the ice melts. Why? Because the tempurature of the ice is increasing. And the water in the tub, well obviously the temp will a little decrease. Simplified (much simplified for sure) our oceans and icecaps are a planetory scale of a bathtub and ice. Hehe, it'll be interesting 60 years from now who will be calling who idiots. Altho I'll no longer be hiking then, and prolly crapping my Depends, I will eagerly be watching our progress (or lack thereof!).” 9:50:59 AM 5/06/08 “Climate Change is a divergent battlefield above that draws attention to CO2 molecules floating about ,rather than , the Perotarea diseased world down where the rubber meets the road.” 10:33:51 AM 5/06/08 Jump to Page << prev
