Alot of Swiss and Irish. “I have my fraternal Great Grandmother's handwritten notes about the Schaffner family and I have been plugging in names and filling out ancestry on free software from Ancestry.com I have my Schaffner ancestry, maternal and fraternal back six generations, from Switzerland. The oldest birthdate I have is 1802, but I have the names of his mother and father. I hit paydirt on my maternal Roach side. One person has done a lot of work going back beyond 1805 with an equal Martin side of similar dates. Roach's go back to Ireland through New York and the Martins to North Carolina. I still have major Wylie branches (more Irish)and Van Meter of which I really know little. My Mom does, and I have some pics with names. They also died and were buried here, so death records are pretty easy to come by.” 11:54:14 AM 3/10/02 “Hey, I'm part Ape with some Rats and Roaches thrown in.” 1:51:03 PM 3/10/02 “Call me Apedude” 2:26:31 PM 3/10/02 “Pathman - me mum has been mapping out that side of the family for about 10 years now, and it's really impressive! She has a lot our ancestry filled out, going back to the 1600's. One of these days, I'd like to map out my father's side.” 2:28:44 PM 3/10/02 “Anglo-Franco-Teutonic.” 3:07:34 PM 3/10/02 “I go back to Adam and Eve.” 4:52:16 PM 3/10/02 “My ancesters go back to Noah's big boat ride. If the Male Sasquatch & the Female Cheetah hadn't of messed around I wouldn't be here now!” 5:11:02 PM 3/10/02 “Celtic/Gallic/Scandinavian/Teutonic, and I can still get a tan.” 11:18:15 PM 3/10/02 “Sasquatch and I are distant cousins.” 11:31:13 PM 3/10/02 “Distant?” 11:43:32 PM 3/10/02 “All from Denmark and Norway! 8)” 7:57:43 PM 3/11/02 “........Also part CRAZY!!!!! 8)” 8:24:00 PM 3/11/02 “I think i actually came from another planet, somewhere in M-31 if i recall correctly...” 8:34:32 PM 3/11/02 “Thats cool. You are from outter space thats cool in my book. 8)” 8:36:43 PM 3/11/02 “I`m a part of the land, a bit of the sea the four winds and fire are a part of me it`s only when I`m off in the wilds that I can feel almost free I`m a part of everything that ever touched me, that`s my ancestry” 9:11:16 PM 3/11/02 “Thats cool. 8)” 9:13:46 PM 3/11/02 “polish, english and scotch-irish.” 9:21:26 PM 3/11/02 “However, my mom always swore I am 100% gooney bird. English/Welsh can be found on both sides. Mamaw's grandfather(1st gen. English) fought for the North during the War. Papaw's father was named James A. Garfield Brown. Rumor has it that Papaw's parents were native to Tenn/N.C. area. Papaw's name was Luna Clay Brown, he was one of a dozen siblings that were orphaned at a earlier age and spend time in orphan homes. He ran away in his early teens to create himself. I have a Aunt and some cousins that have more info about the side we share. I have actually been to the county Donegal in Ireland where those boys apparently came from. There is a little town with a graveyard full of McGills. BUT for the most part like Bacpac I'm an American. You have to come from some where and what better place than America. I am just a little part in the foundation that is creating my families American ancestry and heritage.” 8:21:09 AM 3/12/02 “Pathman, just a word of caution when using ancestry.com or the LDS Family History Center as sources for genealogy. Many of the submissions are not verified or documented, errors tend to be replicated. The Ancestral Files are a collection of genealogical information taken from Pedigree Charts and Family Group Records submitted to the Family History Department or Ancestry.com. The information has not been verified against any official records. Since the information in Ancestral File is contributed, it is the responsibility of those who use the file to verify its accuracy. To verify accuracy, you need to search state or county vital records archives or visit a family history library and use their microfilm collection (which is filmed from original documents).” 9:51:01 AM 3/12/02 BaSO4 “I appreciate the info re: ancestry.com. On my father's side, I have my Great Grandmother's recollections which jive well. I should be able to get primary verification of most by going to Emporia, Kansas, site of the homestead. My mothers side is more problematic. My Mom did tell me that my Irish Great Grandfather was born IN N.Y. Harbor, still on the boat. LOL. Just made it.” 10:06:09 AM 3/12/02
