Walkingstick on the A.T.
Some of you may have seen a post from me looking for A.T. Hikers leaving from Springer Mountain to carry a walkingstick I created.

Well, the goal of this walkingstick is to be carried by as many diffrent hikers as possible from GA to Maine. During this time, I will be tracking its progress via postcards sent to me at when the hiker stops for supplies.

The walkingstick was officailly sent off this weekend from Springer Mtn. Hopefully it will make it.

If you would like to see it's progress, check out: http://home.earthlink.net/~mkrafick/walkingstick/

I will have pictures posted tomorrow.

Seeing that the walkingstick is an insect, what measures are you taking to keep it from crawling away?

We are going up there this week starting at Unicoi Gap, I will keep an eye out for it.

If sticks could talk I'm sure it'd have plenty on stories to tell.

Unicoi Gap
Papa John -
There is a chance that the owners of the Walasi-yi (sp?) Inn will have it. "Hopeful", the hiker carring it said if he could not find someone he trusted along the way to carry it that he would leave it at the inn (Which was his destination).
May want to check it out if your interested.

I will be happy to check for it there when we get to Walasi. Bill and I have now decided to leave from Springer instead of Gooch gap on the 21st of March. I wish your walking stick the best of luck.

For those who caught the post the first time around, I just received the 2nd report from NC. Looks like the stick has logged 100+ miles and has crossed the border. Check out the webpage for updates!
