I would like to have your recipe for the meal that you ate on Sat. night on the Savage Gulf trip last month. It looked really interesting and easy to fix.

I would like to have recipes for both. Each looked interesting and easy to prepare.

food recipies
If you know how to make fried rice, all you have to do is dehydrate it...@ 4-5 hours. I had used 3 cups of fried rice, it went down real nice. I put in 1 1/2 cups of boiling water and waited 15 minutes and viola`...fried rice. If you don';t know how to make good fried rice, just buy it from your favorite chinese resturant.

The other dish was just a noodle bun that I broke up into peices, dried oyster mushrooms, dehydrated carrots and dehydrated turkey and then I put in Emeril's "Bamm" seasonings, a little too much if I remember, add boiling water, wait 15 minutes and BAMM!!! Stikmon's famous noodle dish. If you have access to a chinese grocery market, you will be amazed at all the cool dried and dehydrated supplies that you can pick up. expecially the mushrooms, vegitables, soups. good stuff...

My favorite is dehydrated lasagna...ya'll eat jerky...me, I'm gonna eat resturant style food.

Try red beans and rice w/ shredded ham ...cajun style...rehydrates GREAT!!!

Thanks very much. We have several Chinese markets in Nashville. I will have to check them out. I have a dehydrator that I use often to prepare my backpacking food, so I will try the fried rice idea.

shrimp work well
it re-hydrates great...I dehydrate anything that I eat in my house...not gonna buy no store packaged nonsense ever again. I am going to attempt dehydrating scrambles eggs with ham, cheese and peppers mixed with potatoes. this way I can have something other than oatmeal...although I love oatmeal.

That sounds yummy. I like oatmeal just fine but it gets old eating the same things repeatedly.

I was reading another thread regarding the hike you are proposing in MO. I might be interested in joining you for that one. It is about time for another visit to Kennett to see my grandmother, so it would be convenient for me to meet you all if my schedule allows. Keep me posted if you don't mind regarding the trip plans.

Noticed your Savage Gulf pictures. I hiked there in June. It was my first trip to that part of the country and I was pleasantly surprised. Now that I have some family there, I probably will do some more exploring. I hiked in from the Savage Ranger Station.
