On the road
The "Endless Roadtrip" will be leaving in just a couple of days. Not really endless (but don't we wish), but rather 3 months, this international group of tattered dirtbag climbers will travel throughout the western United States in search of the perfect route. If you are interested in following this trip report, please post here in the next couple of days, and we will add your email address to the newsletter (which will let you know when new journal entries, photos, and video have been updated on the website). For more information (including the itinerary) check out www.EpicExposure.com/EndlessRoadtrip/EndlessRoadtrip.pdf -- Just post to this thread and I will add you to the subscriber list.... what do you think about this?

I just got my first email link to the journal today. Looks good, assuming the wheels hold out.

The truck is holding out...
We had to make a slight modification to the beater Land Cruiser on the way out of town -- it was riding so low, that on large bumbs, the wheel would grind against the wheen well, making a not-nice noise (and undoubtedly messing up my tires) -- Todd had a quick fix to the solution. We got a crow bar and a pair of vice grips and bent the wheel well rim out several inches. Has been working like a charm over the past 800 some odd miles.

Now we are in New Mexico -- unseasonable cold and windy here... real cold and REAL WINDY. We keep on wondering where all this sun drenched rock is that I had been alluding too. The day after tomorrow we will attempt the 15 pitch Needle of the Sandias -- we scoped it from the crest today (10,600 some odd feet) -- the wind and cold were horrendous up there... but being the stupid climbers we are, we've decided to give it a go come Monday.

I probably wont be able to post here over the next three months, but if you are interested in following this climbing road trip, got to < ahref="http://www.epicexposure.com/EndlessRoadtrip/"> The Endless Roadtrip and fill in the email form, so you can be notified of updates to the web site.

Hopefully we will be able to hook up with Sierra Mel (when we go through the Bishop area) and Mountain Steve as well when we roll through northern California.

What do you think about this?

Well, I'll tell you what I think about climbing a 10,000+ peak in March..... I think it's nucking FUTS! No matter WHAT state it's in, it's gonna be cold and more than likely icy and/or wet. But that's just MY thoughts. Good luck to you, and we'll keep our eyes on the news in our area just in case you decide to do some climbing around here. Or who knows? You could make the national news. Oh, as for that tire grinding problem..... ever heard of a set of overload springs or air shocks? Beats mutilating a vehicle for the sake of load carrying capacity. Hey, it's only a thought.

Well CamelFluffer, from one consummate Jerry-rigger to another, that is quite an elegant modification. I fixed the link for you. Good luck and weather be with you.
