Anyone ever heard of meals made by a "Backpacker's Gourmet"? I heard about them from another hiker, but he said they were awesome but hard to find. Any online sources people know of for this brand?

Backpacker Gourmet is the title of a book. REI has "Mountain Gourmet" available.

Are you sure they weren't Backpacker's Pantry? Their slogan is 'Gourmet Meals on the Go'.

If you like Thai, Backpacker's Pantry Thai Satay w/ beef and Thai w/spicy peanut sauce are pretty good or maybe I was just really hungry. Decent sized portions too. I really haven't tried a MSR meal that I didn't like. But some words of warning, they all need salt and the portions are about half what they say on the package.

He definitely said Backpacker's Gourmet. My current favorite is Mountain House Chili Mac with cheddar shaved on top and served with flat bread. I've wanted to try AlpineAire (esp. Chicken Rotelle), too.

Got Lax?
I dig some of the Mountain House meals as well; my favorites are Chicken ala King, and Chili Mac. The only problem is they'll plug me up until I get the 2-minute warning about 3 a.m. while it's freezing rain outside. I've never heard of Backpacker Gourmet, but I'm always on the lookout for good trail food.
