GREAT!!!!!!

One thing I have never been at 10000 feet whats that like on the body?

As far a skill level goes in backpacking I have been backpacking for 11 years and have done lots of miles.

Just thought I would ask.

To be on the safe side it might be a good idea to have your doc prescribe some meds for AS - Diamox if I remember rightly. While there the doc can check for pre-existing edema - if found it would be a good idea to get it cleared up before going up.

Being in good shape, you probably won't have much trouble. However, don't push yourself too hard for 2-3 days. After you acclimate, you will have no problem.

BTW, Aero, how good is Montana in basketball? I need to know for the basketball contest.

crazy mike, I think you'll like the Beartooths. You sound like you have a lot of energy so the altitude probably won't affect you much. If we took 4 days for the Cooke City-E.Rosebud trail, we'd only have to do about 7 miles a day, so it's pretty evenly paced.

Being in shape doesn't always mean altitude won't affect you. I live at sea level, and it still gets me once in awhile. Only thing I can recommend is to start off slow. Don't got out too fast or it'll get you (it doesn't affect some people). When I was running races all the time, I thought I could do it on the trail too. Going out too fast kicked my butt. Once altitude gets you, the only thing to do is go down.

Looking forward to Montanapalooza!

Crazy Mike,
I recall you saying you were driving to the Montanapalooza.

You live in Indiana right? That sure seems like a long ways to drive in one day (assuming you leave the 13th).

How do you plan on getting here that quick?

That's going to be a 30+ hour trip! That's crazy! Oh yeah, you're Crazy Mike.

If you find that you can't make it to Red Lodge by Sunday morning , July 14, you could meet us over in Cooke City later that day. I'm hoping to get most everybody to Red Lodge the 14th so we can drop a couple vehicles at the East Rosebud trailhead. Then, head over to the cabin at Cooke City and take off early Monday the 15th from that side.

Yet another reason to do Montanapalooza
From the Cooke City Newsletter:

Cooke City Sinclair & Cabins - Just recently added to our store: NACHO's and Beacon Rentals. That's right !!! We now have a nacho machine and all the fixings for when you have that "Nacho" craving. Stop in today for your "Personalized" T-shirts. Did you know that we have Twinkies and Birthday Candles? These are just a few of the items that we have added to our store.

What's The Name Of That Bar?
You know, the one that serves Nachos and stuff out on the deck.

The one that has like 100 varieties of beer and NO hard liquor.

When me and the family go camping up there (Forest Service Campgrounds) we always drive to Cooke City for Nachos and beer at that place.

Damned drugs, can't remember anything anymore!!!!

Sounds Good To Me!!!!!!!!!
As this thing gets closer, maybe those that are coming more from the South cant meet here in Cody, and those more North can meet in Billings. Then we can all meet up in either Red Lodge (if you need me there) or else we can meet up at the Beartooth Cafe in Cooke City.

Iffin Crazy Mike and his gang are coming to Cody, and it is going to take 30 hours, that puts him here around midnight Saturday night.

I guess they can meet me at Cassies and I can dance with Prowlers wife!!!!

Got any pictures of her?
