Hey Aero.View Messages“Hey! Glad to-- we might be able to work something out if I'm around! Where are you thinking of going?” 8:39:09 AM 3/04/05 “We fly into Billings in the 16th fly home on the 25th. Got tickets last night. Pretty much going to do the beaten path and a bunch of off trail stuff to vist some of the lakes and peaks nearby. Gonna drown some worms too.” 8:47:03 AM 3/04/05 “Sounds good! Do you need a sherpa? Are you going from the Cooke City side to east Rosebud?” 8:55:10 AM 3/04/05 “It would be cool to have you along. We are planning on going from Rosebud to Cooke (that's heading southwesterly isn't it?) but that can change.” 9:08:41 AM 3/04/05 “We were also looking at a way to include the Aero lakes.” 9:09:24 AM 3/04/05 “wow, they named some lakes after Aero? must be a pretty cool guy!” 9:15:21 AM 3/04/05 “Yeah, can you beleive they named some lakes after me? The weekend of the 16th will be tight for me with the State Games (7/15-17), but I could probably shuttle a vehicle by the following weekend (24th) to or from either end. If you guys go in from the Cooke City side, I might be able to shuttle a vehicle over to East Rosebud on the 24th so it would be there when you come out.” 9:19:24 AM 3/04/05 “Ok, that sounds doable. Where are you at?” 9:21:13 AM 3/04/05 “I'm in Billings. It's about a 2.5 hr. drive to Cooke City and about 1.5 hrs to East Rosebud. But we may be over at Cooke City the weekend of the 24th--don't know what's planned yet; we've got cycling races, kid's stuff, etc., so I usually don't have a clue until the time comes!” 9:33:52 AM 3/04/05 “Since when has it been acceptable to use a preposition to end a sentence with?” 9:40:46 AM 3/04/05 “What you say?” 9:44:46 AM 3/04/05 9:47:42 AM 3/04/05 “yeah, i wish you guys would watch the way you speak around such a master of propriety as Violin! someone who would NEVER start threads about diseased parts of his body or excrement in his pack or ANYTHING like that.... :-D” 10:04:27 AM 3/04/05 “If the time comes and you still need help, I may be able to help you out. How many people are you talking about? Like Aero, it's a long ways off and I never know what I'll be doing.” 10:30:37 AM 3/04/05 “There is 5 maybe six of us going.” 10:54:02 AM 3/04/05 “We fly into Billings in the 16th fly home on the 25th. what, you are not going on the WV car camping cookoff trip? PPPFFTttttttttttt” 11:35:15 AM 3/04/05 “Hmmmm...lemme think A weekend of car camping in WV, a beautiful state by any measure or.... A week of backpacking in the mountains of Montana. Ummm yeah, original plans still stand.” 12:04:33 PM 3/04/05 “fine, then you will miss all the food and meeting me :(” 12:10:33 PM 3/04/05 “ruh-row” 12:12:32 PM 3/04/05 “If you like elevation climbs, start at East Rosebud, otherwise start near Cooke City.” 2:03:47 PM 3/04/05 Aero, Chief “So any thoughts on the a East Rosebud-Cooke City shuttle? The plan is to hike from East Rosebud to Cooke. Yeah I know it's a climb but thats ok. We have a van rented and there are seven of us going. My idea is to just move the van and not the people. Maybe meet me and one other at the Cooke trailhead and give the two of us a hitch over to East Rosebud. If things fall through, do either of you know a commercial outfit that does shuttles?” 10:44:43 AM 5/06/05 “Yeah, what were the dates again? We've got a lot of stuff going on in July around the 16th, but we should be up at Cooke City at times so we could probably figure something out. If I can't, I might know someone who is going over that way.” 11:11:17 AM 5/06/05 “That's what I get for not checking the thread again. ~sheesh~ We fly in July 16 start hiking the 17th and fly out the 25th. So I'd prefer to do the shuttle on the 17th if possible but again, I'm flexible.” 1:30:18 PM 5/23/05 “Hey Aero, check out the Sea to Sea thread about Andrew Skurka. The guy is going through Montana right now.” 3:39:07 PM 5/23/05 “Thanks for all the info and help. We got the shuttle thing handled. The guys just opted to get two rentals (one van one car) and do the van drop thing.” 12:28:06 PM 5/27/05 “Got any reccomended gear joints in Billings or Red Lodge? We head out your way this Saturday.” 2:25:43 PM 7/12/05 “The Base Camp in Billings is the best. It's on Grand Avenue--one of the main east-west streets through town. For Red Lodge try Sylvan Peak--it's right on Main Street--about the only street in town. Both places have everything; stoves, fuel, food, maps...etc. I'm tied up with the State Games this weekend, but next week I might be up at Cooke City. Did you guys decide on a route yet? You can easily get to Cooke City from the Wyoming side.” 2:41:33 PM 7/12/05 “We start at East Rosebud on the 17th and come out at Cooke City on Sunday the 24th and that night we have a hotel room in Billings. We've made some noises about coming off a day early and swinging through Yellowstone and possibly doing some rafting but we will make that decision during the trip. Thanks for all the help.” 2:47:03 PM 7/12/05 “Oh yeah, rafting! After you come out at Cooke City, you could head through the Park and come out at Gardiner (by Mammoth)--it's only about 50 miles over there. There's a good rafting company there that takes trips down through Yankee Jim Canyon on the Yellowstone.” 8:50:54 AM 7/13/05 “I've caught some pretty hefty fish in YJC, too!” 8:59:13 AM 7/13/05 “I had considered rafting the Gallatin but I dunno about the length of the drive due to summer traffic. I've heard the traffic in YNP has become much worse over the years. I have a coworker whose brother works for Yellowstone Raft out of Big Sky who might be able to cut us a deal.” 9:02:17 AM 7/13/05 HEY NOW!!! “Don't forget about Sierra Trading Post in Cody!! It's not too far out of the way. And, there's a few rafting companies here too. Not too much for white water below the dam, but still fun and refreshing. Of course there's the Buffalo Bill museaum, actually five museums in there.” 9:31:10 AM 7/13/05
