Asolo Boot repair “I own a pair of FSN GTX 95 Asolo hiking boots and don't have any problems with them and I love them. I was reading reviews on gear (not here) and more than one person stated that they soles wear out faster than normal hiking. One person stated that after 400 miles she had to get rid of her boots because the sole wore out. So... I emailed Asolo and asked them who they recommend for a cobler and this is who they recommended. http://www.davepagecobbler.com His prices are reasonable and cheaper than buying a new pair. Just thought I would share this with you all so you had the same information I have to keep up your gear. That's extremely valuable info to have since he wears a hard to find size.” 6:12:46 PM 3/14/02 “I have the MTF 600's and they are a good boots! 8)” 6:16:00 PM 3/14/02 “Thanks for the great tip Sparky. $45-75 is sure a heck of a lot better than $200 and breaking in a new pair.” 8:18:32 PM 3/14/02 “Your welcome... I had a hard time paying $150 for a pair of boots and even a harder time convincing my wife why I would do such a thing. So I know what you mean... Sparky” 8:37:26 PM 3/14/02 “I wish I knew when to stop when it came to buying gear....8) It's a sickness I tell you. 8)” 8:39:05 PM 3/14/02 “YUP, I know... I live near two outfitters and when I come in they know I am just looking and checking out the new gear and wanting to play with it. Went to a AT thru hike seminar tonight. The guy hiked the AT in 97 and had a lot of good tips but it was mostly a slide show telling about his trips... I had a good time but just wanted to put on my pack after it was done and head on out and do a LONG hike. Sparky” 8:44:04 PM 3/14/02 “No doubt I know how you feel like right I now I know the weekend is almost here and I will be backpacking soon it's like a itch that you have to scratch all the time! 8)” 8:47:01 PM 3/14/02 “How incredibly useful!!!! Man, that is too cool. Thanks for posting the website!!” 8:48:46 PM 3/14/02 “Your welcome Artex... I learned a lot from the people here on TT and just trying to give a little something back. I know about the itch.. It is an itch like Poison Ivy that you have to medicate... and the only medication for that itch is to go BP'n... My closet is my gear locker... it is packed. I have a lot of uniforms but BP stuff take priority... Sparky” 7:59:40 AM 3/15/02 “Lowa Boots recommends Dave Page and they also recommend The Cobbler and Cordwainer in New Rochelle, NY.” 7:49:58 AM 3/16/02 “You know, I seem to vaguely remember reading an article once that recommended them both. Anywho, thanks bunches for the links.” 10:09:26 AM 3/16/02 Ms.Sassafrass Makes Some Awesome Cobbler “Those 95GTXs are some pretty sweet hiking boots, that are also pretty sweet for everyday use. I'll bet those who wore down the soles fast either hike mostly on rock or wear them all the time. Maybe Asolo had to put on a softer rubber sole so the boot wouldn't have that "mid-weight" feel... or maybe it's PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE” 11:03:20 AM 3/16/02 “The 95GTXs aren't designed for regular backpacking, I think. More likely for dayhiking and daily use. That's the impression I get anyway.” 12:25:43 PM 3/16/02 “My Salomon Mountain X's had a small problem with the stitching. I took it to some old German cobbler, and he fixed them for $10.00. I had to tip the guy $5, becuse his price was wayyyy to low.” 7:07:43 PM 3/16/02
