So my new years resolution went down in flames today. Sass and I went to the EMS store and happened to be there on the day of a nice clearance sale.

I bought a new EMS rain shell, huge pit zips and torso zips.

Sass scored big! New rain coat ($40),3 pair of coolmax hikin underwear ($1 each), 2 sweaters and sunglasses.

I hope it rains this wknd during our trip, just to try the new stuff out.

Shame on you Birch! I got 2 pairs of Merlino Wool Patagonia socks (midweight) $8.00 per pair, at the Sportsman show today. I even went out in my backyard and set up my Trekker Trap.

Looks like we are both ready for the summer!

Oh great, birch, start praying for rain for our hike, LOL! Well my Precip jacket has to get broken in some time. I'll be going through Madison on the way to Michigan, and that will allow a rest stop at REI.

For about the last month I have been on an Ebay auctions kick.I have won bids on 3 backpacks:Mountainsmith,Lafuma,Jansport.1 sleeping bag:Slumberjack and a Eureka Cobra tent. You would think I was trying to re-outfit a scout troop or something and oh did I mention that I bought a Primus Techno Trail stove? I got tired of watching others on the ECT hikes get ready to cook so fast while I'm priming my Internationale.

So what the heck I'll pay the mortgage next month! LOL!

Sass called me yesterday while I was in the grocery store to tell me about her finds. As soon as I log off, I'm headed to EMS myself. :)

one more time
Looks like the Mtn. Hardwear " Aproach" is going to be my next choice for a test drive. Set one up in the store and it meets MOST of my picky requirments for a tent.

A couple more guy outs and velcro fly fasteners and it should be close to PERFECT. Coustomizing seams to be the only way I can come up with what I want.

These "sprees" are getting to be a habit, but they sure are fun.

I'm going back for the rain pants tomorrow. Can't pass them up at the price. Those dudes have zippers from the ankle to mid thigh. May not use them too often but after last weekend I've decided I need to get 'em while I can.

I checked out the website for isis gear (www.isisforwomen.com) and my cloudburst jacket runs $130, the pants $95. I got them both for a mere $85. And they are lovely. =) I'm so happy!

Oh good. I'm not the only one suffering from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Just bought a Hennessy Ultralight and the family gave me a set of Lekis for my 40th.

Now if I could only get to use the stuff.

What is EMS? I've heard of all the others. My REI dividend is often larger than my tax refund.

Have you seen the new MSR ads???
You can now take your tent to your local fire department to have them give it the firehose test.
