What a Blast!

“Thursday morning MDS Hiker, Papa John, and myself (Prowler) started at Unicoi Gap Trail Head going N to Deep Gap Shelter. Where we would meet up with JOSH, Smoke, and Sherpa. We all decided to hike on a mile past the shelter to a flat campsite closer to where we are meeting Day hiker, and DUDE he brought in the morning. Well you know how a mile goes!! lol 1 turn to 3, 2 turns to 4 etc., changes like these the map don’t tell you. So we ended up meeting right before dark to set up camp and hop in the bag.

Friday morning started off great, plenty of sunshine and in the 70's. We where on the trail by 8:30 heading to Dicks Creek Gap to pick up Day Hiker, DUDE, and drop Papa John off. From there we headed on to Plumorchard Gap Shelter when my damn water bag broke and soaked EVERY DARN THING (changed 23 lb pack to 25-30 lb,) I sat for awhile squeezing out water from my gear and had to take a major climb for more water. After catching up w/ the others we stopped to get water Plum orchard, I headed over to the shelter to get a picture for TD. (Man TD you would of had some memories of Millipede from these Deliverance Boys that we met at the shelter! they gave every one the creeps.) From there we headed to Muskrat Creek Shelter, which made the day a long struggle up hill. I heard after the first day it gets easier. My A$$!!!!!!! Shoot the last climb going into North Carolina is an awful welcome to a state. It felt like hours going over these knobs, they had 50-65 % grades, which drained all our energy.

Company came right before dark! Mallis and Oatmeal, (deliverance boys) which Oatmeal is the one we named because of the Oatmeal dribbling down his shirt while he’s eating. Mallis ha, that’s a whole other story how he got his name. We suspected the came to the camp to follow some two-lady hikers. All they wanted has a bottle of licker, a$$, and some pure white they say, man what a night. Those dudes are whacked out!

In the morning we headed out by 8-8:30 the soaking rain, and fog made us to decide to call it quits at Deep Gap right before Standing Indian Campground. We took a short cut to the back Country Parking Lot, which was suppose to be 2.8 miles from Deep Gap, Ya! more like 4.8 miles not including the wrong turn MDS and I had that added another 3 miles on! But over all the side trip was great I have some great pictures of some waterfalls. What a beautiful day to end the trip!!! I’m shore we all had a blast! I know I did!

Over all we met alot of Hikers and made many of friends on theh trail! Once I can ill post all my pictures for you to check out.”

“The Knobstone trail.It's in southeast Indiana.

It has tons of up and down just like the AT.Ask Prowler about it he will tell ya.
