Search Party

“We had a 16 year old girl come up missing Sun night. Last seen riding her bike on the bike path thru Yellow Springs, Ohio. First thing I hear this morning on my radio alarm, is they are looking for volenteers to search the woods all around John Bryant/Glen Helen nature preserve where the path skirts the border. So I ditched work and spent the day organizing a group of several adults and 15 or so of her classmates. Turns out she got fed up with people and was "taking some time to be alone" called home today Tues. about 2:00. All's well that ends well. I just kept thinking "What am I going to do if one of these friends of hers DOES find her out here?" You just never know what a day will hold-do you. Over 250 people showed to search.”

“Yes, her Mom and Dad were on the news. After they called us all back in the reporters were all over them. Her Mom thanked us in front of the camera-that was nice. Hey, I saw my face on the 5;00 news-in the background, behind her Mom and Dad-wonder if my boss saw me?”

“Oh man, she is SO in trouble when she gets home.”

“What made it so bad is there was a 18 boy missing from around there about 3 months ago...he has not been found. Everyone thought this was #2. Glad it wasn't.”
