This Should Be Fun “Tomorrow I get to sit down with a psychologist and go through four hours of testing to determine my aptitude for future leadership in the company. Apparently I get an IQ test, some block test, the ink blots, a current events test and various other mental probings. Anybody else go through this? It's a good sign to get chosen to do this - but a little stressful. What if they ask for my badge when I'm done? I've been told my best course of action is to "be myself" - what's that about? heh heh” 7:31:00 PM 3/19/02 “Dude they think your LOONEY so watch out!” 7:34:34 PM 3/19/02 “I have gone through lots of tests but they are all for being. CRAZY!!!!!! 8)” 7:36:29 PM 3/19/02 “hahahah!” 7:38:15 PM 3/19/02 “Gee Doc - so far every ink blot you've shown me just looks like two monkeys having sex - is that bad?” 7:42:58 PM 3/19/02 “LMFAO!!!!!! 8)” 8:02:10 PM 3/19/02 “Just don't tell them your cat posts to an internet forum and you'll be fine.” 8:04:27 PM 3/19/02 I had to go through that to get my 00 rating “They ought not have asked me and I ought not to have taken it. Piece of cake!LOL” 8:33:35 PM 3/19/02 Bossman Pickin' My Brain “Tell'em to pick on someone his own size! :)” 8:37:13 PM 3/19/02 “What does the brain feel like when you pick at it. It must feel strange. But I bet I would like it. 8)” 8:39:43 PM 3/19/02 “TRy drinking about 7 pots of coffee first. Show up with your own little notebooks and jot down things when the doc talks and give him dismissive glances while saying things like " ahh I see" and "very interesting" and "hmmmmm" while acting very aloof and unconcerned.” 9:32:59 PM 3/19/02 “Found a page on the Rorschach inkblot test. This page contains the actual ten inkblots, and what the psychologists tend to be looking for. If you view this site, your answers on an actual Rorschach inkblot test should be considered invalid, and you should inform the psychologist administering the test. If he or she is a competent professional interested in more than making a quick buck off of your employer, then they shouldn't continue the test, because they want your initial, unbiased reaction to the inkblot. Rorschach Inkblot Page Have fun!” 10:37:38 PM 3/19/02 “Do you want my cell phone number? I see a therapist every week. You can call me and I'll tell you want to say. hee-hee-hee-hee” 11:10:06 PM 3/19/02 “Tell them the voices keep telling you to stay home and clean your guns.” 12:04:35 AM 3/20/02 “i took the caliper leadership test...based on your answers they determine your aggressiveness/passiveness...leadership, or follower...depends on the job you want you can skew the results...i wanted a sales position...so i answered aggressive, and company oriented....if i wanted operations i would have answered passive, employee oriented” 1:07:56 AM 3/20/02 “Big coop, I took similar tests when I applied for the Michigan DNR. All kinds of psychological tests and personality tests. Consistency and honesty is the key.” 4:21:54 AM 3/20/02 “My Psy is great! I go and see him for 5 min's its' in and out. I like that nice and easy! By the way I see him for my GAD not becuase I am crazy. 8)” 4:53:39 AM 3/20/02 “Birch - I like your first post, but realize that your second post is the way to go. Question is - should I cheat and look at bitpushers post.” 5:29:56 AM 3/20/02 “Seriously?.. be careful.. I know quite a bit about all this.. A lot of it depends on who interprets the results.. and as much as I hate to say it.. being 'honest' and 'open'.. could be a HUGE mistake on those things.. The worst of it.. the questions tend to be deeper than at first glance..” 8:51:55 AM 3/20/02 “The worst thing to do is to try to fake it. There are a lot of different ways to score the Rorschach... (some really aren't very valid or reliable)... but many of them will make you look really awful if you try to fake being normal... or even if you try to fake some other kind of personality. This is one of the few strengths of the Rorschach test... it is really hard to fake. Almost everyone does some self-censorship if they see too much crazy stuff (weird sex, gore...etc.) but other than that it is really best to be honest. In other words: be yourself (I assume you normally mix honesty with some concern over propriety and social appropriateness in everyday life).” 8:53:59 AM 3/20/02 “On the other hand... why don't you fly into a rage when you see the first car. Scream about how sick it is to show violent pornographic images, refer to the company policy on pornographic materials in the work place and call security to escort the psychologist out of the building.” 8:56:04 AM 3/20/02 “Some tests that are considered "reliable" are designed to detect inconsistencies in your answers. If the test is designed to measure your ability to work with certain types of people or in certain types of situations, why not go with it and see what happens. I took a test to help a friend once to see if I had the "right stuff" to be an insurance salesman. When I handed it in I knew I would get a low score. To the contrary, I got the highest score possible.” 9:10:37 AM 3/20/02 “Wow, Bitpusher, thanks to you I discovered the deltabravo.net/custody site. I wish I had known about it during my ten year ordeal (see the What would you do? thread). It's over for me now, but I can't believe what I went through and what many others are suffering. I am going to pass this on. Thanks again.” 9:26:00 AM 3/20/02 SPOILER...big coop don't read! “Why do you have to see something sexual in all those cards?..I'm one of the biggest pervs in the state of alabama (leave my cow out of this!)...but to be honest..i didn't see that in any of them, and thought it was reeeeeaaaaaly messed up that your "almost have" to see something sexual/violent in each card. And the one where scitzo's see an oil lamp....well that's what i saw...*shrugs*..in my book that's better than seeing a imaginary vaginas!” 9:29:14 AM 3/20/02 “The SPARC site (deltabravo.net/custody site) is interesting and contains some good stuff. As a divorced dad, I am all for providing sympathetic resources for dads. I do notice that there references are a little out of date on the Rorschach. Statistically valid systems for scoring the tests have improved in the past 19 years. There is also a link to a Wakefield and Underwager piece. I think those two folks are slimy. Underwager looks to me to be someone who gets paid to slant and distort expert testimony for the defense. He also had an interview published in a pro-pedophile Euorpean publication and his views on the topic look reprehensible to me.” 10:11:42 AM 3/20/02 “LOL. What a joker bitpusher is! All 10 inkblots are obviously oil lamps.” 10:27:19 AM 3/20/02 “To explain my attitude toward Underwager: Hall of shame Forced to resign from false memory foundattion” 10:49:23 AM 3/20/02 “Hey, I just posted a link I found with a Dogpile search! There is an amazing amount of information out there on the Internet. Using a meta-search engine like Dogpile is a great way to find it.” 11:04:18 AM 3/20/02 “"Hey, I just posted a link I found with a Dogpile search!" - bitpusher 11:04:18 AM 03/20/02 I'm not sure who that was directed to, but if it was for me, don't worry bitpusher, most of my jokes are so inside, I'm the only one to understand them. I was referring to this comment for Plate VII: "There is an entirely different side to this blot, but you're not supposed to see it. The white space between the girls or women can be interpreted as an oil lamp or similar object. It is claimed that only schizophrenics usually see the lamp." Ped - Underwager sounds like a real gem.” 11:17:35 AM 3/20/02 “Pedxing: Thanks but no thanks; just the custody stuff is fine for me. Doug (Gremlin)” 11:43:08 AM 3/20/02 “That's funny Violin, I saw a bunch of oil lamps too. I wonder what's wrong with everybody else that they didn't see them too? ; ) .” 12:11:59 PM 3/20/02 “I wasn't offended, Violin, just wanted everyone to know that I have no connection with the site. I didn't even notice that it was a custody rights site until gremlin said so.” 1:00:53 PM 3/20/02 “Viol: There once was a guy who I beleived to have given deliberately misleading expert testimony in a case I knew about. I couldn't talk about that case, but I could point to other reasons to distrust the guy. I found it difficult to see him referred to as if he were a credible person without saying something about him.” 2:45:03 PM 3/20/02 “I'm an expert witness (different field) and hired guns get me all riled up too. I know how you feel (well maybe not, my cases are always about money, not people).” 2:51:21 PM 3/20/02 “I hear voices in my head they tell me things like. "Go Backpacking" "Buy Gear" things like that. 8)” 6:06:18 PM 3/20/02 Took The Tests “Wow - what a morning. Spent 4 hours with the doc. Here's a little taste: Who wrote Faust? How far from New York to Paris? Why is a free press important to a democracy? Why do we cook food? Why do we pay taxes? Then I had to put a bunch of blocks together to make a pattern (engineers and architects do well here.) Then put a series of cartoon panels in a logical order to tell a story. Then some mental math questions. "If it takes 2 sewing machines 8 hours to finish a job, how many machines are needed to do it in 1 hour?" Then discussed current events like "Should Jeff Skilling go to jail?" and "Why do you think Jack Welch did what he did?" Then he told me how smart he thought I was, then the Ink Blots came out. They were exactly as the above site had said. He said he was using them to get a read on creativity. Like Opie - I never really saw sexual images, although one pick looked like someone with a bladder infection. Then I translated a series of numbers with related characters. Then we ended with a 20 minute typical IQ test. Talked about the Sierras and the Tahoe Rim Trail (where he lives). Sounds like the company is going to keep me.” 5:28:30 AM 3/21/02 “Dude that sounds like a little of some of the tests that I have had to take! Did ya pass? Are you insane or normal? 8)” 3:01:56 PM 3/21/02 “I guess I'm surprised that it didn't include the MMPI. Maybe because it's too long.” 3:23:54 PM 3/21/02
