Quietly bring your personal belongings from work home over the course of a week so that you can fit the last of it in a pocket or handbag on Friday. At mid day tell everyone you're going to the bank. Walk out the door and never look back.

My sister once worked with someone who did this. It took everyone a few hours to realize she wasn't coming back.

Slip your boss some LSD. Maybe you can get rid of her first!

When I quit the last job I had for this one, the wife and I went in on a Saturday to pack up my office. While we were there, a co-worker came in to do some work. He never said anything while we were there, but on Monday, after I turned in my resignation, he did say he "wondered what I was doing"

do what I did
and convince your boss that he needs to lay off someone and that someone is you. Everyone walks away happy. The boss doesnt have to lay off someone who wants to be there, and you get the 3-month compensation package!

Whatever you do, be gracious. Don't burn bridges. YOu never know who you will run into in the future at another company...it is a small world.

If you have access to software or critical records, they may excort you away the minute you give notice...depends on the situation.

Sure...
I could tell you how to quit your job.

But if you did it you'd most likely be fired.

I totally agree with Phil about being gracious and not burning bridges. When I recently quit my last job, seeing my bosses squirm and panic on what to do was enough sinister satisfaction for me. No bad mouthing needing. I suspect the same applies in many cases.

Sing this on the way out........
Take this job and shove it,
I ain't workin' here no more.
My woman done left,
An' took all the reasons I was workin' for.
You better not to try to stand in my way,
As I'm a walkin' out the door.
Take this job and shove it,
I ain't workin' here no more.

I've been workin' in this fact'ry,
For nigh on fifteen years.
All this time, I watched my woman,
Drownin' in a pool of tears.
An I've seen a lot of my good folk die,
Had a lot of bills to pay.
I'd give the shirt right off of my back,
If I had the guts to say.

Take this job and shove it,
I ain't workin' here no more.
My woman done left,
An' took all the reasons I was workin' for.
You better not to try to stand in my way,
As I'm a walkin' out the door.
Take this job and shove it,
I ain't workin' here no more.

Well, that foreman, he's a regular dog,
The line boss is a fool.
Got a brand new flat-top haircut;
Lord, he thinks he's cool.
One of these days, I'm gonna blow my top,
And sucker, he's gonna pay
Lord, I can't wait to see their faces,
When I get the nerve to say:

Take this job and shove it,
I ain't workin' here no more.
My woman done left,
An' took all the reasons I was workin' for.
You better not to try to stand in my way,
As I'm a walkin' out the door.
Take this job and shove it,
I ain't workin' here no more.

Take this job and shove it.
