ummmmmmmmmm
sure you can start whenever you want. But the party won't start till Sat morn when we hit the river and land for the night somewhere. Once down river, there is no way to connect with each other.

Friday night will be at base camp, I think that Stalker has said that he will do base camp. I've never seen base camp done so well before. I need to see where we can do base camp...maps are at home. Does anyone need a map, I posted the info to get one.

Chili36, if your coming, could you pick my friend up at the airport? It would really save me a trip, big time. He is looking at arriving @ 2:00 on friday the 17th. I'd owe ya...big. I will take him back down on the following tuesday.

As for those having to leave off the river before monday...I posted the number for an outfitter who will shuttle cars to different put-offs, for a nominal service charge. $15.00. Call him and make the arrangements.

Any other special requests? Keep em comin, we'll invent solutions on an as need basis.

stikmon, don't see any reason I can't do a taxi run from MEM to 11PT.

I will make sure I have the information before the appointed hour.

chili
I wouldn;t want you to taxi Don all the way, Kennett is on the way, just get him to me and then your off the hook, then we can follow each other to 11 points. WOW the generosity of the people on this site is overwhelming...I just want to give ya'll a great big hug...but since its the wine talking at this moment, I will probably forget what I just said...Happy Pesach (Passover) to everyone.

Hey Stalker...if your still out there...are you really gonna set up base camp and be the welcoming committee to all arrivals?

Cool beans...I will keep you informed as to don's situation...he will have to decide if he wants to go on this trip.

I might just have to take you to lunch next time I'm down in Memphis...which might be soon. I got a call from the Dental school to set up my next appt. I do it on Tuesday's...are you available on tuesday's?

JGeils -Sounds like the beginning of a plan!

Stikmon - Tell us please, did you float this weekend? How wet did you get? It rained here all day Saturday, Saturday night and this morning. I knocked out 10.6 miles of section 7. That leaves me with 8.5 miles to complete the section. Maybe you and/or Jgeils would like to hike it with me. It ends at the beginning of the Richland Creek Trailhead. We could day hike the RCT the second day. Let me know! Bacpac how about it?

If you want to Mozark, I might be able to do that instead of the Sylamore hike. Doesn't look like too many people are able to do that hike when I can make it.

did not go out this weekend
Moz, my shoulder is under a Dr's supervision...the good news is that it isn't dislocated, the bad news is that I have torn ligaments. And now my back is seizing up on me...lovely, I'm just having such a great fuking weekend!!! I did think of you all day during the storm, was hoping you didn;t get swept away.

Josh, No luck on the canoe yet, but there is still time, but If I can;t find on it looks like I'll be renting one...no biggy, If my friend comes in, we'll just split it.

Come on all you genius' someone out there should be able to come up with a battery operated rig for a blender.

As for completing that section of the oht. it is so far for me to drive there, i don;t see it happening, there is no easy route for me, but one never know...going to go to Hot Springs for mem day weekend...treat my mother for her birthday and mothers day.

I'd still like to know who is in for the whole 3 days and off river on sunday. Please let me know.

Prowler...you are doing the breakfasts, right? I'll take care of the dinners. Once I get a form grip on head count, I will plan a menu and post it.

Lunches are "on your own". I have VERY large cooler and 1 regular size and a new collapsable cooler, so we do not need to go cooler crazy. but this can all be worked out as it gets closer...wait, what am I saying...its only 6 weeks away you say...no...wow...its almost here...so climb aboard and come float with us...Hawaiian shirts optional.

Does anyone have a small boom box that they can bring that plays CD's. We gonna need da jammin tunes. We b jammin, we b jammin.

I know I can be there Friday, any longer I'm not sure about. I may be able to get there early on Friday if anyone is going to make it early. Anybody see the canoes that they sell at Sam's club. They look pretty neat with lots of neat gadgets, but I don't know how good they are. I'm sure I wouldn't take one on a tough river, but it might do for class I or II.

The map
I scanned and saved it as 4 seperate jpegs. combined it is a folder of 5.44 mg.

Too large to upload and too large to recieve. I can save them to CD and mail them out. or I can copy and fax...I will accept any requests.

i almost bought the sam's canoe, but went with the costco one instead last year. i was figuring that if i use it enough maybe i'll get an old towne in a couple years. i wasn't sure if i wanted a kayak instead so i didn't really want to spend 900 bucks on a canoe.

My apologies
I was not able to get out the fax to Mozark...way too much going on at work today.

I spoke with the park ranger today and was told the best place to base camp on friday nite is at Greer Access. there is water, and sites available and a put in. There is an $8.00 fee per site for the Nat'l Forrest camp ground. The Outfitter that I am talking with can transact the rentals right at the river, this will save alot of time in not having to go their office and then coming back.

The downside is that by starting at Greer, we loose @ 15 miles of river....but this can somewhat be made up by paddling all the way to "The Narrows" but...for the outfitter to shuttle cars that far down river, its $20.00, not $15.00 as I mentioned earlier. Without the Narrows, we are looking at a 20 mile trip instead of 35.

And...if no one rents a canoe from him, then the car shuttle goes up to $25.00 per car, but if at least one canoe is rented, then all car shuttles will be $20.00.

Sound complicated...not really. But I am sure if you all had the maps, it would be much clearer. I will try again to rescan the map and get it out tonight.

i say we pay the extra money to go further down the river. we could always shuttle ourselves too, if no one rents a canoe, couldn't we. is there anywhere else up river to camp on friday night? it doesn't matter all that much to me but i'd hate to lose 15 miles, im coming a far way for this, let's make it long.

camp above the greer
I'll give Kenny a call tomorrow (sunday). Josh, I agree...lets get as much out of this trip as we can. We can always camp at Greer, then in the morning, drive up river and put in at the beginning...hmmmmmmmmm...what do you think that.

The ranger said that greer is the only forest spot available to camp at, the properties that border the river above greer, are private domain. There might be a private camp ground available...I have not asked about that...I will tomorrow or monday.
