“There will be period of darkness, that will be followed by daylight. the water will be wet and cold. It could rain, but on the other hand, it might be nice and dry. It is May, and therefore could be fickle...come prepared and there shouldn;t be any problems...bring a big upbrella and a bigger tent.

Is someone bringing an enclosed party tent?

I sent out my first batch of pdf maps...thanks mozark...if you did not receive one, that means that I do not have your email address. If I don't have your email address, I can't send you the file. So...If you didn't get a map, and you want one...what do you think I need?

Oh yeah...Does anyone want to go on a spur of the moment weekend canoe trip on the Niangua River on the weekend of April 20-21. This will be a 28 mile trip on pristine river in Missouri, near Bennett Springs State Park (south of Lake of The Ozarks, just west of Lebanon.”

Now that everyone has a map (except Josh). ya'll can see what I've been looking at. We can put in at Cane Bluff (mile 9.3) and float to The Narrows (mile 44.3). That gives us a 35 mile trip in 2 1/2 days...save @ 8 miles for the 1/2 day (4 hours) and 31 miles for the 2 full days. managable and fun.

Remember, to shuttle the canoes to The Narrows its $20.00 per car with one canoe rental, $25.00 without.

For those who have not confirmed, let me know what the status is. For those that have not told me when they are off river, I need to know that too.
Prowler, Josh, Sonja have their own canoes...does anyone else?

Are there food concerns...lunch is up to each person...I need to know what people WON'T eat...Sonja...we've already covered that...I need to know, so that I can pre set some menus. I will provide dinners. Sat and sun...I am thinking Jambalya, sausage & Chicken for one night. Maybe marinated ribs the next. any disagreements with that?

Could someone do potatoe salad for the rib dinner. I have a VERY large cooler to put stuff in...who's bringing BEER? Vegi's?

Also, I have a butane table top stove, does anyone have a double burner coleman propane stove?

Radio with CD player...gotta have tunes. How can ya chuck without tunes. I have a small bow saw, are there others?

“After being harrased by stikmon about this trip I figured I'd find the thread.
I'm kinda interested but I don't have a canoe or kayak. Do they rent canoes in the area? Also, If I can do it, I can only do Saturday night on the river. Looks like it would be about a 6 hour drive for me so I'd have to be back at my truck around noon on Sunday.
I can make it to the area late on friday (if I can do the trip).”
