did they ever come back?
Last I heard they were off to NH and Maine at the end of February - have they posted since ? I can't keep up with all the threads so maybe they have, but I was wondering how the trip went.

Yes, but nothing from Tarpy. Do you think she??? Will we ever hear from him again??? Is there a new shallow grave in the woods of Maine???

Never mind the shallow grave, skully, just leave the body in bear country. Shallow graves are why people get caught. The body takes longer to decompose, and you don't get any help from the friendly wildlife in scattering the parts.

But maybe I've said too much....

OK! soooo, we get the SUV on Friday night, and then Saturday we start driving, just sort of winging it (okay, Tarpy started driving...i wasn't allowed, 'cause i'm under 25, although i ended up driving a little bit)...it took us 13 hours to get to NH!! we took the scenic route, ya know. Vermont was my favorite part, i absolutely loooooved it! i want to move there, NOW! :-) such cute little towns, and hardly any chains...mom & pops all the way, baby.

so then we got to North Conway, NH at eleventy hundred o'clock on Sat. night, and went straight to this brick oven pizza place, which kicked ass! everyone who worked there was a hippie, and you could tell everyone eating there had just come from the slopes or the trails. for me, that was the best part--that people up there are so outdoorsy. and most of New England seemed very hiker/skiier friendly...every road we drove on had signs pointing to trails, and the place was lousy with campsites! aahhh, i miss it so much :-)

so anyway, we ate and drank our heads off, and then we went to...several miles away, where the campsite is that Tarpy's stayed in the other times he's been up there. we built a fire, and what trip with him would be complete without smoking lots of weeeeed, maaaaan! and then we went nighty-night in the back of the SUV...i woke up cold like once, but for the most part we were very comfy-cosy :-)

when we woke up, we went to a diner and had the best pancakes EVER...then we went exploring, and hiked up a beautiful snowy mountain! we didn't get crampons for our boots, so it was a little slippery--the snow had melted and refrozen. but we made it...and the way down sooooo fun--we just slid most of the way, crouching down!

we spent another night there, and went on another hike that totally scared the bejesus outta me, because it was really rocky and slick. and the ice on the side of the mountains was melting and falling off, because it was so warm...i was standing looking at Tarpy, and he saw a big chunk falling down towards me, and was like, "ohmagawd, look out!" and i was just standing there totally oblivious like, "what?" ha!! it was funny...because it missed ;-)

is anyone still reading this? :-D sooooo anyhoo, that day we checked into a "Swiss chalet" in North Conway and took the best shower EVER! and then we rolled our faces off and went to a bar and stuff...then came back and got in the hot tub, wooo hooo!! :-) oh my gosh, have i mentioned that i hella miss that place??

and so then we spent another night at a campsite and made an awesome meal on the fire, and drank some Vermont beer...and the next day we had to leave :-( we were soooo tempted to stay a night in Vermont, but we'll save that for another trip! on the way through, we were going up and down these big mountains, and at the top it would be totally white and covered in tons of snow...and when we got to the bottom, there was hardly any snow at all! it was aaawwwesome.

The Chesapeake Bay and more specifically its tributaries are mo' betta' for body disposal.

Any of y'all like Maryland Crabcakes?

Those little bottom-feeders will take care of a corpse mucho pronto!

I heard from a Coast Guard dude about dredging up a body that was covered with feeding shrimp.

Yummy!

TARPS
Been trying to search for different ways use a tarp for sleeping on or under or both while sleeping out in the great outdoors. Havent been to find anything out there posted specifically on this. It seems alot of you use just tarps while packbacking. Would like to give it a try and loose that 5lb tent but a Im a little hesitant just to wing it.

Love the moose crossing sign! When I was out west I got a picture of a sign that said 'P AREA AHEAD'. I think you had to have been trapped in van with 15 boyscouts on a cross country (literally) trip to truly appreciate the humor in that one.

Thanks for the pics Tarpy!

THE DOORS MAN!
WILD CHILD Lyrics
All right

Wild child full of grace
Savior of the human race
Your cool face

Natural child, terrible child
Not your mother's or your father's child
Your our child, screamin' wild

An ancient rulage of grains
And the trees of the night
Ha, ha, ha, ha

With hunger at her heels
Freedom in her eyes
She dances on her knees
Pirate prince at her side
Stirrin' into a hollow idols eyes

Wild child full of grace
Savior of the human race
Your cool face
Your cool face
Your cool face

Do you remember when we were in Africa?
