Thinking about Lassen

“So, what are the best places to backpack in Lassen National Park? I'll be up that way around July and would like to check it out. One more thing, do I have to stay in an established campground at night, or can I camp along the trail?
Any advice/comments would be appreciated.”

“Many backcountry loops. Don't forget the adjacent Caribou Wilderness. Some non-wilderness NF backcountry adjacent to the SW corner is also available.

“Did you ever post a trip report on your trek here to CA? Sorry I missed it. Tahoe: Are there any hikes around Mt. Rose area. My wifes folks live in Reno south area and I stare at it during our visits. Not one to like to sit(boring) and visit I want to run away up there.”
