Oh yeah!
I ordered an MSR, Titanium, TITAN KETTLE!

It was delivered today and is waiting for me at home...

Holds / .85 liters
Weight / 4.2 oz

With this, my Titanium Spork, and MSR Whisperlight, I am set for some lightweight cooking!

YEEE HAAW!

The spork kicks A!

you won't really be set for light weight cooking till you replace the Whisperlight with an alcohol stove - the Ti kettle is nice however

Got myself one a couple years back. Works great for boiling, but cooking on my micro stove usually leaves a scorched spot at the bottom in the center.
Trick little idea on how the handle stays upright or flat.

Fuel canister drops right in it too.

the scorched spot in the middle is typical of Ti cookware - the remarkable stuff is just about as bad as stainless steel when it comes to conducting heat - one of the reasons I use an Al pot.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
I came home to my new Vasque Arctic winter boots waiting for me. Boy were they stiff when I first put them on, but after wearing them for hours they're really loosening up.

Anywho... I'm jealous, as I've been eyeing up those kettles since I first saw one. I've been using an old Boy Scout mess kit pot and lid for a long while now (MSR Blacklight set is gathering major dust). It's small and lightweight and just the volume I need, like the Kettle (but just not as rad).

i like it, i've been waiting for it for a long time, too.
with it getting cold out im rethinking the lightweight stuff.
i got kind of spoiled in the summer carrying whatever i felt like.
gonna go ahead and start carrying this pop can stove too. just gotta make a stand for it. im thinking about just using a few tent stakes.

Hey buddur, I bought my new bag at Appilacian Outfitters. The chick there remebered you, and asked how you were doing. I told her you were serving 5-10 because of PennDot. (jk)

How does it pour? I have an MSR Stowaway pot and I like it, but it pours all over the place. I don't cook in it - I just put my food in my oversized insulated cup, pour in water, cover for a few minutes and voilà. I'v been thinking that for the same purpose the kettle might be handier.

I love my whisperlite too.

actually the top stays on pretty good. drips a little off the side of the spout though. seems like it doesn't do it too much and it's close enough to the center it still falls where you want it anyway.

Is the Kettle or other sub 1 liter pots big enough to cook a typical liption noodle pack or ramen, etc? I've been pondering this size pot for a while but it looks a little on the small side.

I don't know about the kettle but the pot is great I cook everything in it. Great little item and my stove fits right in the pot.

maybe if you busted up the ramen block. i was surprised at how small it really is. i don't own one, but i was thinking of buying it. it's really very small.

Pennsy uses the Evernew tea kettle for his cook pot the thitan is the same size. I use the Primus tea pot to boil water for my meals holds 2 cups plus. Perfect for one-two person dehyrdated meals. Water boils really fast on my pocket rocket.

Too Big? Too Small? Just Right?
In my attampts to create a pour spout on my grease-pot I mangled it. So a new pot is on my Christmas list. I am considering the MSR Titan Kettle.

For those who have used the MSR Titan Kettle - is it big enough for solo use? I typically cook ramen with some tuna (now beef) in it. Will it suffice for that purpose?

Secondly - I have to figure out if my StoveStomper windscreen will work with it or if I need to convert that as well. I'm gonna have fun taking that into the local outfitter to try.

The salespeople will bow at the ingenuity (engineeruity) of StoveStomper.

The StoveStomper windscreen / pot support will need to be changed since the titan kettle is considerably smaller diameter than the grease pot (think minimal surface area of a cylinder).

One thing you may want to consider is whether you might want to go toward ziplock cooking - ie pour boiling water into a ziplock that has the food and have a cozy for the ziplock - wait 15 minutes and the food is cooked and still rather hot. If you think this may be for you then don't bother with the Ti kettle - get a 24 ounce beer can (I use a 24 ounce Heinenken "keg" can) and chop the top off - that's your pot for boiling water. The cozy I use holds the ziplock upright and open so I can pour the water safely.

An Evernew 0.9L Ti or 1.3L Ti pot will probably work with your existing stand. I like then better than the MSR Ti Kettle. More surface area on the bottom to pass the heat into the water.
I had a MSR Ti Kettle and did a speed test useing the same alcohol burner and same distance from top of the burner. The MSR Ti was about a minute slower to boil 2 cups of water than the Evernew 0.9L Ti.

REI has the Evernew 1.3 L on sale now for $28. I posted a link a few days ago. Search on Evernew.

HOI - I like your idea, but I also like my little pot ritual at dinner and breakfast and am not ready to give it up.

SS - I think the Evernew 1.3 is gonna be the way to go for me. And on sale!

I prefer the 1.3 litre also... food And a hot drink from one heating cycle without having to fill the pot too full.

Maybe I'm just a spaz, but a pot filled to the brim with boiling water is 'tempting fate' in my case

I had a problem pouring with the grease pot also. I drilled a 3/8 inch hole just below the rim so the lid would still cover the hole and not loose heat. Tad slow pouring but its better than pourin that extra water on the ground. Start with a small pilot hole first.

That's the Evernew 0.8L Ti teapot cindy lu, not the pots we are talking about. That Evernew teapot looks very much like the MSR Ti Kettle and like it will have less bottom surface area than the other pots.

Don't forget about the Antigravitygear 3 cup pot. Made by the same people that make the Wal-mart grease pot except the lip is rolled outwards so no more trouble pouring.
Check my webpage for a very light pot gripper for pots like this.

treebait - I was hoping you'd miss my comment - I had your comments in mind as I continued to twist and contort the metal. "she was right, she was right"

StoveStoper - the antigravity is another good choice. Without you I would have forgotten about all of this stuff I have already read about. The cozy is another thought. Although I have never had trouble keeping any of my food warm long enough - maybe coffee I guess.

Hey! For the record, those anti-gravity "cozys" are a rip off! I've bought all the same material and have made several pouches (for boiling in Zips) one pot cozy and a backpacker cooler, all for 4.00. One of there pouches costs 10.00! I say, homemade gear to better gear!

HOI - I love that idea for your pot. If my burner and "stuff" didn't fit nicely in my Evernew 0.9 pot, I'd made one of those. Maybe for my "Ultralight" summer time set up....
