Osprey Luna 90
Hello! I am looking to upgrade to a new pack. I currently have a Lowe Alpine Sirocco II ND 70 + 15. I am looking for something that can hold more gear and also has outside pockets for organization. I love my current pack, but it isn't the most convenient when it comes to accessing extra layers, etc. I am considering the Osprey Luna 90, but am having trouble finding reviews. Does anyone have experience with this pack?

I don't have experience with Osprey packs, but whatever pack you buy be sure to try it on first with weight in it to see how it feels on you. Reviews are OK, but I've tried on packs that others said were great and to my back felt terrible. Always try before you buy.

If you decide to get it, sierratradingpost has last year's on sale.

I'm A Chicken Hawk... And Don't You Forget It
I saw a real live Osprey this past weekend at Moraine State Park in PA. It looked like a hawk (I know...Ospreys ARE hawks...fish hawks, that is) with all these brown spots on the upper portion of its underside. Did some checking up on the sight to find they were recently re-introduced after being virtually wiped out in the area.

Let me know what you decide. I am looking for a larger pack myself. Actually, I have the same pack as you - Sirocco II. I haven't done much looking yet. I will probably just go a couple places and get recommendations and try them out. Good Luck!

Osprey packs rock. I bought one in the Autumn. IHMO, the only brand which comes comparably close to the comfort of Osprey packs is Arcteryx.

The Luna 90 is rather big and heavy. Are you sure you need something that big?

Lowe Alpine External Pockets
naturegirl, since you mentioned that you love your current Lowe, have you considered buying the external pockets that Lowe sells? My wife also has the same pack as you and she bought a set of the pockets (which add a total of 480 c.i. of space) and uses them when she wants some extra space and organizational flexibility.

My neck of the woods
Buddur-You were about 1/2 hour from where I grew up. I used to go up there all the time. Have you been to McConnell's mills yet?

Been to McConnell's Mills many times. I grew up near 79 and 80...pretty close to that area.

A local outfitter here has a number of the 2001 Osprey packs 50% off. If anyone near NJ wants one, go to Ramsey Outdoor.

I'm getting an Aether 60 but have decided that the changes they made for 2002 justify the extra money.
