July 13 thru 17 “I am going to Denver on the 10th of July, will be finished meetings on Friday 12 @7pm. then heading north early sat morning. I can pick anyone wanting to go with me up at the airport fri night. I haven't decided what to do yet, but it will be in RMNP. I might do 3-4 days on the CDT. anyone interested in joining me...I usually do this stuff alone but, it would be a pleasure to share the moment... Only crazy people need apply.” 6:31:14 PM 3/26/02 “DUDE!!!!! I wish I could! That's one state I gotta BP in before I die.” 6:40:03 PM 3/26/02 “WD, it is unbelievably beautiful. I've been to CO twice, once in winter and once in summer, and it took my breath away both times. And not just because of the altitude. I wish I could go Stikmon, but got too many things planned already for that time of the year. And if I went to CO without taking my wife, she'd kill me.” 7:11:15 PM 3/26/02 ahhhhhhhhhhhhh yes “I fondly remember those blissful days of being killed by the former wife. N O T !!!!!!!!!!!! now I get to enjoy myself whenever, wherever, however. Like others on this site, I need to find a woman who likes, actually LIKES to do this stuff and (here's the realy catcher) who wants to do them with me and Khatru. For rent...one man, who cooks, cleans, does laundry and windows. Owns own home, 2 cars and numerous tents. Loves outdoor activities, pets, kids (who dont scream alot and are well behaved). Contact: Stikmon.........................................please. That doesn't sound too desperate, does it? you know...I read in cosmo that pathetic is in...I can do pathetic, I really can.” 7:27:14 PM 3/26/02 “I was sold till you mentioned kids.” 7:31:33 PM 3/26/02 “A friend of mine used to get women to do his laundry for him by going to the laundromat, putting everything in one washing machine, then stand in front of it reading the box of detergent over and over again, occaisionally glancing back at the machine, then finally throwing up his hands in disgust. Some woman present would then get all motherly and do his laundry for him. I wonder if you tried some thine similar at a campground that had a high number of available women present. I don't know what it would be though, maybe pitching your tent upside down, or possibly by dunking a Mountain House dinner, still in the packaging, into a gigantic pot of boiling water. It's a thought.” 7:37:11 PM 3/26/02 “LMMFAO @ Bitpusher!!!!!!!!!” 7:40:45 PM 3/26/02 “I aim to please!” 7:43:30 PM 3/26/02 “Dude, my stomach was hurting from laughing! I read it again and the result was the same. Not sure which part was the funniest!” 7:47:17 PM 3/26/02 “Oh surely what my friend did. No lie, he used to do that. Real life is funnier than anything we could ever make up.” 7:49:22 PM 3/26/02 “Yeah, that was a classic but I was also picturing you throwing your hands up studying an upside down tent or scratching your head looking at a Mountain House meal in a huge boiling pot.” 7:53:21 PM 3/26/02 “Yah that would look pretty funny. Lessee, other backpacking faux pas.... Peeing into a cup then trying to filter it with your filter. Claim it's too far to walk to the stream, and you heard urine was sterile anyway. Trying to light your backpacking stove by rubbing two sticks together. Showing them your cotton percale groundsheet. I dunno. Any others?” 8:00:23 PM 3/26/02 “Stikmon already has the perfect babe magnet. Chicks dig dogs. Katru should attact them in droves!” 8:04:44 PM 3/26/02 “And if he doesn't, stikmon could always train Khatru to fetch them.” 8:09:28 PM 3/26/02 chick magnet “Khatru is a chick magnet...but everyone he tries to bring home is like 13 or something. I try to point out the mothers...but he don;t get it. I guess its because they are more his size...maybe if I could lick my balls the way he does...I could get women to like me...whadda ya think? huh... On second thought...I don;t think so. that's disgusting and nasty...if your laughing...you're a sicko too.” 8:11:16 PM 3/26/02 “Ya gotta lick your eyebrow. That'll get 'em.” 8:13:04 PM 3/26/02 “Just a second here. Context break. Exactly who is licking whose balls? Hmm?” 8:16:43 PM 3/26/02 “I was not involved in any way here. I was at another thread at the time.” 8:20:10 PM 3/26/02 I've been working tooooooo long “just getting home now and my brain is all messed up. Hey, I did a scan disc and it says that I have 240 hidden files...how do I un-hide them and see what they are? and then if I don;t want them, how do I get rid of them...where did they come from?” 8:32:31 PM 3/26/02 “Sounds like you may have been hacked. I suggest Norton Internet Securities.” 8:37:16 PM 3/26/02 I have McAffee “I will go and check there. thank god I don;t have anything on record here.” 8:50:39 PM 3/26/02 “peeing in the cup and filtering it will definately drive the women away! Don't do it man!!! lmao” 8:15:02 AM 3/27/02 “Stikmon, did you actually say "kids who don't scream a lot and are well behaved."? That would be what, midgets who look like children?” 9:24:34 AM 3/27/02 “Not to (*ahem*) change the subject, but Colorado has been on my wish list for some time now. I went to Denver on business a couple years ago and just seeing those mountains and feeling the change in altitutde and humidity (away from the muggy East) was mindblowing. Put me down as a longshot for July. More likely though I might go to Colorado in September when the aspens are turning.” 10:41:48 AM 3/27/02 “I'm drooling. Would love to do Colorado in July. Done it several times during July. Did Rawah Wilderness west of Fort Collins. GREAT. I wanna go, but don't think my dissertation committee will let me. 8 - (” 11:12:03 AM 3/27/02 steve hiker “your on man!!! I will keep the thread alive and kicking till my departure date...and...thanks for getting this thread back on track...ya'll really are very good at thread degeneration. bunch of preverts.” 11:32:49 AM 3/27/02 thread degeneration “It's what we do best! Seems to me that (*ahem*) Stikmon was the first one to stear the topic. (see post #4 of this thread)” 7:15:53 PM 3/27/02 “Where the heck is the king of thread degradation anyway? I haven't heard from the RADMAN in quite some time.” 7:26:40 PM 3/27/02 thanks alot “I thought you had my back WD. Man. I'll remember that. lol” 8:48:19 PM 3/27/02 “LOL!!” 8:57:37 PM 3/27/02 “I've done Colorado a few times, usually in September. Camping and day hiking. WARNING!! It seems whenever **I** go there, they get the unusually early, heavy snowfall. So ya probably don't want me on that trip. LOL! I know good places to go, though! Stikmon, I can't recall. Are you the one with the goal of camping in all 50 states?” 9:41:49 PM 3/30/02 ....now I get it Stikmon.... “...sounds like you were hoping to get out of this NC trip so you could expand your gig in Colorado with your TT cronies.....it's like...well...NC is in the way and besides I've been there done that....I got bigger fish to fry.....I'll see about changing those dates to accomodate you....maybe dlookout is going after all....” 9:54:51 PM 3/30/02 colorado in july “i did a loop in rmnp last july and loved it. i would possibly be interested in going again this summer. can you email me with details?” 8:53:51 PM 3/31/02 Sonja “I'd be glad to. Its on the way Just an update on dates...I will only be camping on the 13th, 14th and out on the 15th. This is in July. I have found a nice hike, I think its called "Lost Lake" that I would like to do. /should be great. it is outside the np, but still total wilderness.” 11:03:24 AM 4/01/02 “My husband and I are going to CO in August for 17 days of backpacking, camping, and hiking.” 6:02:04 PM 4/01/02 Katibug “you rot...I only get 2 1/2 days...but it is free...company trip, company expense report.” 7:02:29 PM 4/01/02 stikmon “Hey Stikmon. I live up in Fort Collins, and just may be up for a trip around then. My summer plans are all kinds of up in the air right now, but as it gets closer I'll know more. Once you start getting a few ideas, maybe let me hear them and I'll tell you what I know. Since this is a biz trip for you, your dog probably won't be along - but if he is, Rocky Mtn NP is out, no hounds allowed. My main playground has been the Poudre Canyon just west of FC, but I've done plenty down south too. That time of year is sweet, nice and warm and the wildflowers are still out up high. Good luck w/ your plans...” 9:42:00 AM 4/02/02 Fenway and all “Here are the plans. I can pick people up at the Denver Airport between 7:00 and 10:30 pm on Friday July 12. After that...the bus has left. I will be renting a midsize vehicle, so I will be able to handle 2 additional people (1 slot is taken). The hike that I have planned on doing is called "Lost Lake" It is on the North Fork of the Big Thompson River. The idea is to drive from the airport and either drive the distance and get close to the TH, then hit the trail in the AM. Saturday July 13. The hike is a nice 9.7 mile hike with moderate difficulty along the north fork of the Big Thompson. The Goal is Lost Lake. Sunday July 14. Hike up to the top of Mount Dunraven (12571') via Lake Dunraven there no real trail, although the trail description says that there are trails to follow, hike back to Lost Lake for a sumptious dinner (your on your own). Monday July 15, hike out half way to Lost Falls Camp site, explore to the Falls and frolick in the woods looking for Legolas Greenleaf and the woodland elves. Tuesday, Hike out, if time permits, hit up Estes Park for shopping, lunch and maybe a shower. My flight out of Denver is at 5, I will be at the airport by 3...so 3pm on Tuesday is the end of the party. Come on and have a long weekend of fun.” 2:55:28 PM 4/03/02 “Way cool..another group I belong to here in NC are planning to come out to CO ( my home state ) and do some hiking..If its ok..can we possibly join you?” 9:36:33 PM 4/03/02 Evergreen “How many in your group? I wasn't originally looking for a scout troup, but maybe that would be fun...I've never hiked with a group over 8 (including myself). This trip is firm on the plans, dates, and destination...the only thing that is not an issue is time...there will be no clock watching until Tuesday morning. I'm open...Lets talk.....” 10:29:42 PM 4/03/02 “SO far only 3 of us..” 10:48:35 PM 4/03/02 Evergreen “I will email you. Then we can talk particulars.” 10:46:41 AM 4/04/02 lizs “sorry, I a-pologize...I neglected to respond to your comment...I'd like to say that I have camped out in all 50 states in the future...yes, I would say that that is a goal of mine, amongst many others. You and I talked about your picture of Angels Landing...I got all nuts, cause you had been there too, plus your cute. anyway...come and join us in colorado...bring in a july snow...that would be very cool... and nice to maybe meet you too. (that;s not too much flirting, is it?)” 5:54:50 PM 4/04/02 trip update “as it stands now, me and 2 other folks from Missouri for a total of 3. Evergreen...let me know what your thoughts are. This is not going to be a pure backpacking trip, what it will be is 100% fun. The hike up Mt Dunraven looks like a 2500' ascent in elevation from Lost Lake. MD is 12571'. We will be hiking past a coupple of wilderness lakes. there should be no one around...especially tourists. I will find out about backcountry permits, but this is a remote section of the park, I don;t forsee any difficulties...but one never knows. I will post more updates as I get them.” 8:36:32 PM 4/04/02 Back Country Permits “The permits are in hand. July 13 and 14 at Lost Lake camp site, July 15 at the Boundry Creek camp site. July 16 am...back to the fantasy of the "real" (yeah right) world.” 10:14:14 AM 4/05/02 Been there! “Hey Stikmon - you picked a good one! I've been to Lost Lake, thats a sweet hike. The sites at Lost Lake proper were full, so we had to take the Stormy Pass site (quite possibly one of the hardest climbs I've done in a full pack, BRUTAL. We basically climbed to the ridge opposite Dunraven and camped up there.) On the way out, we stashed our packs at the bottom of that trail and hiked up to Lost Lake - very pretty, with lots of cool little lakes up there. Following the river all the way up is awesome, and it should be going pretty good that time of year. I actually might go and hike that trail next month and scout it for a possible kayak descent. I still don't know if I'll be around then, but if I am that might be a sweet trip. I could come down from the north via the Stormy Peaks Pass trail (the long steep mother we hiked up last time), that would be a cool way to do it. If you have any questions about anything for this hike, let me know or just email me at dcsmith9@yahoo.com. The first part of your hike will be outside of RMNP, there's a wilderness area there with some backcountry sites available (last time we camped in one of these Friday night, busted up to the Stormy Peaks Saturday, and came out Sunday). OK, you got the Boundary Creek site for the way out, nice work. That hike in will be a long one, if you could leave late at night the night before you can camp at those sites I was talking about before w/ no permit required. Well, I suppose I should do some work. You've got a sweet trip coming up, I can rustle up some pictures of it if you're interested...” 12:15:41 PM 4/05/02 fenway “post the pics...would love to see what I'm in for. I know it will be a long hike in...9.7 miles. The ranger told me to expect an all dayer. that's ok, because that is all we will be doing on Sat. I think it will take @ 6-8 hours. Depends on how fast the others are in the group...I'm no speed hiker, like walkindude, but I truck along...what will help is that there will not be any mtns to hike on our way in. It should be great. Then the sun hike to the top of Dunraven will be with day or fanny packs only. that will make it very much easier. I hope that you could make it, that would be very cool, I was told that the sites hold 7 tents each, I have 1 site reserved, and only have 3 tents so far. If you show up, that makes 4 and there is a fellow from North Carolina and his hiking group that is interested, so far he only has 3 going to Col. don;t know wether he is going on my hike yet. If I need to reserve more sites, I need to do it quickly, the ranger told me that they fill up fast, I am the first to grab one, he is going to give me the best one!!! I'm so excited, this is gonna be great!” 5:17:42 PM 4/05/02
