They will never make it
I heard on the radio that five women are attempting to be the first all female team to climb Everest. From the description of the group I don't think they will make basecamp #1. Oh well, more money than brains...

I thought this would be a "Recovered Sleeping Bags From Mt.Everest For Sale" thread.

I just hope they aren't each strapped to two Sherpas who are dragging them to the summit ala the woman in "Into Thin Air". That was a desacration of the mountain.

Maybe Disney could start an amusement park in the top of Everest.

tough crowd
I think its great that this group is going to do the climb. They are all experienced climbers who are in great shape.

Lets just face the facts...you all are just jealous that they are going and you'll never go.

I for one, applaude them and will cheer them on each step of the way...Women rule...take that vagina to the top of the world and show all the limp #&%!$' who's boss.

i bet if they saw this thread, they'd save those pesky tampons especially to mail to bacpac when they got home! ;-) ha!!

but seriously, i think if i were to go to the top of the world, i'd just leave mine at home, LMAO!! so, we can write vagina but not pen is. verrrrry interesting.

Peak bagging has no appeal to me. I prefer trees, creeks and wildlife.

I have never understood why people peak bag anyway. Mountain peaks are beautiful, why would you want to put a bag over them?

And who makes bags that big anyway?

Doubly happy, however, is the (wo)man to whom lofty mountain-tops are within reach.

One of them is from Washington, she is a cancer survivor. She was preparing to do this 5 years ago when diagnosed with breast cancer. She's made a full recovery and is resuming her quest. Oh, she's also 58 years old!

Another one has climbed the highest peak on 6 different continents, so I doubt she'll have to be pulled up by a sherpa.

I would say that if they had a Breshears or equivalent as a guide, and an army of Sherpas, they would stand as good a chance as anyone.

They won't make it if they stop for directions every 100 feet.

Unless someone tells them the souvenir shop on the summit is having a sale.

Ford team
The five woman team was part of a larger IMG led expedition. They made it to Camp 4 and from there made an attempt but the weather and health went bad on them last week and they started down. A husband and wife Phil and Susan Eshler summited last week.(also part and guides for IMG if I read right. After reading Krakour(sp.) and A. Boukreeves(Sp.)books its quite a feat for climbers just to make camp 4 +. Glad to be just a backpacker.
