I saw that A & E is airing a movie based on the journies of Shackleton. It's airing on Sunday April 7th @ 8PM CT and part II is on Monday the 8th @ 8PM CT. They have a pretty cool site too.

Don't kill your TV yet!
YES!!! This is a must see for anyone interested in backpacking. These guys were truly amazing with the suffering they endured. I've read several books on Shackelton and one on Mawson (an Australian on Shackelton's 2nd trip) and they just blew me away! The Brits have some fascination with cold and suffering!

We're unworthy!
THIS was Shackelton-inspired. We were weenies by comparison! We discussed his journeys on this whole trip. There was a lot of WWSD (What Would Shackelton Do?) mostly laugh!

Last night PBS had a two hour documentary on him. It was pretty good. It's one thing to read the books (which I have), but to actually see the terrain of South Georgia Island and of Elephant Island takes it to another level. Thanks for the link Nigal. Talk about must see TV.

I also saw the show on my PBS station last night. Must see fer shur. This is an amazing story with photographs, archival movie footage, and current footage of what the conditions must have been like. I think that Nova is one of the best shows on TV and this was no let down.

I saw the NOVA last night as well. I also saw The Endurance at the theater. Both were choice documentaries. The Endurance was excellent!!

I didn't see the TV thing, but the book Endurance: Shackelton's Incredible Voyage is one of the most amazing books I've ever read. What those guys went through is beyond belief. And the leadership skills Shackelton displayed through that ordeal are incredible.

Read the book.
