Hey i'm doing research, which is a better bag, the western mounterneering aztec or the northface catwalk. So far im leanin towards the northface. Any personal opinions. Plus i heard down flattens our after a while, is that true?

You can fluff down in a a clothing drier with no heat. Toss in some tennis balls or shoes to restore loft. Plus you need to store the bag properly.

Go west TVI. I don't know about the Aztec but I have a WM winter bag. It keeps me warm and cozy. Materials and workmanship are top notch.
If it's kept clean, down doesn't lose its loft. The advantage is that it compresses better than synthetic and it springs back.

TV, doesn't the synthetic 20 deg bag that you are looking at weigh a lot more than the down 20 deg? For the same 2 pounds, down is much warmer. Also, down compresses to a much smaller package. If your pack is not that big, this will make a big difference to you. There are times in cold weather that I can barely fit everything in my pack. If my bag was synthetic, I would be out of the game without a bigger pack or some creative tieing onto daisy chains, which is fine until it rains.

aztec ?
Not familiar with that model....do you mean Apache?
TNF makes great bags but WM makes Super Great Bags!

I still have and use a pair of 22 year old Camp 7 down bags, that retailed for $225. in 1980.
