Oh boy, oh boy! That is soooo cool Wolfsister! There's going to fighting over who gets to take it this weekend. Maybe I won't show it to Birch until he returns from his trip with Nigal. hehehehehe. Don't tell him what it is! LOL, Thank you very very much!

OH, like Birch doesn't like the challenge of sleeping under a poncho? Wasn't that his choice, anyway?

Hide it away, Sass!

MAKING HIM sleep under a poncho?! He said he was going to take his poncho a long time ago. He didn't change his mind until I decided to go to Hoist Lakes w/o him. He's not allowed to change his mind once I decide to use what he wasn't going to use in the first place. He'll survive under his poncho. If not you'll have someone to snuggle with Nige. =)

It's a Swiss Bottle/Cup/Stove. Aluminum, about 9 inches tall, all stacked together. One pound with the bottle, but that'll probably stay at home this trip, 10 ozs w/o.
It has a cool little metal handle that you can move around to hold the cup higher above the esbit for simmering. It's pretty darn neat.

"He'll survive under his poncho. If not you'll have someone to snuggle with Nige. =)"

My snoring will drive him out and he'll end up crawling into a lawn and leaf bag 100 yards away from my tarp. LOL! I know he'll be fine under the poncho. He's the only person I've ever seen that sleeps under a poncho in the winter!

Sounds like a coll little pot setup ya got there. That Wolfsister's one nice lady.

While the Michigan Mountaineers are saying some thanks for returned items, I can't remember if I told tarabull thanks ... my missing glove from the Curdistan trip arrived safely, and cutely paperclipped into a peace sign (or victory sign for you, Buddha Bear). Thanks again, tarabull...and thanks again to the MMers who made that a memorable weekend.

Not so well. A last minute smear campaign seems to have worked, along with complacency by her supporters who kept believing there was no way anyone would vote for her opponent. So Monday is Reino's last day in office. But she got more done in 2 years than the previous mayor got done in 6, and her support from area movers and shakers (who obviously don't all live in the city limits, nor constitute a major voting block) are strongly behind her and helping keep her spirits up. There is continued talk at state level to try to get her to run for state assembly, but I don't know if she (and I) want to go that route. It's been nasty enough at the local level. She is very proud of her accomplishments, and managed to get support from Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians, but her appeal is definitely beyond our little city limits. If the folks in the surrounding townships could have voted, she may have done better. Tough being a progressive woman in politics these days, even if you are a fiscal conservative. Who'd have thought voters wouldn't want someone who lowered their property taxes twice while managing to improve municipal services.

Too bad! I'll be thinking about you all in the days to come. Sounds like she did a great job while she was there and the new mayor will have some big shoes to fill.

Gosh, Pekka, I give you and your wife a lot of credit for sticking it out. Politics can be an ugly place, especially for someone who just wants to improve life a bit. I see enough political crap just from my municipal engineering desk....good luck to you both in your future endeavors!

I can see the smear campaign now....

"Her husband walks around in the woods alone... he's crazy!"

Too bad for your wife Pekka, she sounded like a politician that actually did something good.

BTW - thanks for the translations.

Thank goodness that aspect of my character didn't get dragged into the fray! Since we use different last names, many folks don't know I'm her husband, though some that do may see me as one of those public employees (read teacher) who suck up their taxes. My college district is it's own taxing entity here in Wisconsin, so even though folks want us to educate their children, some resent what it costs to do so, despite being much less expensive than the UW system.

Reino's off to Madison today with another area mayor (who also got defeated) to do some last minute political rounds before hanging up their spurs. I had to teach, so I couldn't ride along and visit gear stores.
