Request for jokes.
Reading all the Marine/Army digs on the other post brought to my attention that I don't know any good Air Force jokes.

Help?

Call me old fashioned but I just can't bring myself to make fun of anyone that kills thousands of people so I and ground troops) don't have to.

People like Tom can call them the "queers in the rear" all they like. Better to be a "queer in the rear" than a Pu$$y at home talking bravado on the net.

Just MHO.

You know why Air Force bases are so nice?

Once they choose a place, they first put in the O'Club, NCO'Club, golf course, movie theatre, swimming pools and gym.

If there is any space left, they put in the runway and hangars.

No Joking Matter
Three of my Dad's so called pu$$y friends are still in Laos after 35 years. One was just buried in pieces last year.

The jokes are usually good natured pokes about differences in the services. I can't make a case against getting rid of any of them, each fills an important role.

I agree it is all good natured fun between branches. Even though the ground pounders make fun of the flyboys, have ya ever seen a ground force commander get on the box and ask for more ground troops? Hell no! He calls for air strikes! LOL!

My Dad was in the Air Force, I spent my time in the Navy. I couldn't stand the thought of being sent back to Dayton Ohio.

Come on! It's the "cradle of aviation"! Dayton is great town with so much to offer. It has grown and developed a great deal over the last 20 years. Was it rough being a militairy kid?

Dayton and being an Air Force Brat
Ice skating on ponds. Indian Mounds. I saw them move from the old to the new Aviation Museum (really cool seeing a B-52 hauled down the highway). Fossils in limestone. Woods and hills. The Big Red Machine. The Bengals first couple of years (that was pretty exciting). Woody Hayes in the news.

What I didn't like about Dayton:

Poison Ivy. The weather. No mountains. The weather. Poison Ivy. No mountains.

Growing up a military brat?

I really didn't mind much. We got to live in interesting places, but never overseas. I didn't know any difference at the time. Now I notice that some people I know have friends they have known since grade school. Not me. I also get antsy after I have lived someplace more than three years. I think my Mom was the family hero. She kept things together during his absence.

My high school (69-73) years made me a little schizophrenic about the military and warfare. The prevailing youth culture was anti war, while my home culture was "national defense" (NOT pro war). When you see the liberal vs conservative debators on TV, that's what goes on in my head all the time! ;-)

One of my best friends in a Major in the USAF, flying spooky AC130 gunships with Special ops into every bad place you read about (and a lot you don't) with loads of unhappy people shooting at him way to regularly. You won't catch me making any jokes on those guys, my house might explode.

I lived in an Air Force town once. One of the difference I the AF as I was told is that in the AF it’s the officers that are at the highest risk of being killed because they are the pilots and crew in side combat aircraft.

You can always tell something about a groundpounder that continually bad mouths the air Force.

A ground combat soldier that was pinned down and received fire support from an AC 130 never disses the Air Force again.

No, I didn't think it was the same guy. My friend lives in Alabama and is a Captain.

There are a lot of guns sticking out of an AC130, bad mo- fo. A 25mm nose cannon, a 40mm cannon and a 105 Howitzer stuck out the side. Could rouine your day 10,000 feet below.

jus' funnin'
I was in the Army (Field Artillery) '86-'89 (yes, I was honorably discharged, decorated too). I will make fun of Grunts (we called em' speedbumps, we were mobile) Jarheads (we called em' amphibious speedbumps), Flyboys, Squids, GunBunnies, Tankers (we called em' DATs Dumb Ass Tankers), Abrams Tankers (CDATs computerized dumbass tankers). The list goes on... but don't get me wrong. I love these folks, ALL of them. I will stick up for a Marine, Sailor, Soldier, or Flyer if they are in trouble. I Love this country and the people who volunteer a piece of their life to defend it. All you life long civilians who get your back up when I tease my brothers and sisters just don't get it. It's OK we're family

Not one joke in the whole thread. Perhaps I should post a thread about who's parents were in what branch. Maybe then I can get some jokes...

It is really good to read about all of the support that the Military has now. I'm in the AF and have been for the last 6 years. Yes we do make fun of the Army but we also respect them. They are the ones that protect our air bases. But dont think that we are not going to crack a joke about the army grunts. I just wish that the military had the support that we do now before Sept 11 happened. I talked to my grandfather which was in the marines in WWII and he said that he has never seen the support so high for the military sence he got out in 1945. My dad was also in the Military during the 60ies. He said that it public support is the best that he has ever seen. I guess what im triing to get to is that next time your congress man or sentor says that we get paid to much or that we don't need all of the jet/equipment that we have. Ask your self? How much is someone life worth that is protecting my freedom. A lot of people take it for granted. And if you mess with us yes we can drop a lazer guided missle right though your bathroom window:).
