YAHOO!!!!!!! I just landed a really great job doing public relations! I am sooo stoked!!!

It's in the NYC area, which I was looking to move away from, but found it hard finding work in my field in Maine. I've also decided moving back down to my home state wouldn't feel right just yet. So, I'll just have to make more trips up to the Catskills. But the new job seems like it's going to be fantastic: Great people, less stressful work, and good pay.

Life is good. Life is very, very good.

Thanks guys! :-)

Pennyshiker - Yes, I did go to the Catskills yesterday. However, there was more ice and snow at the top then we had anticipated, and we didn't have crampons. We were relatively close to the summit of Wittenburg when we ran into three forest rangers who practically insisted we turn around. They were very cool about it though, and not one to argue with people of their skill and knowledge, we took their advice. It was still a great trip though, I'm still soar from it. Have you gone up there yet?

Thanks for the update. No, I've never been up there. Just the Daks once. I've got maps, snowshoes and crampons so I'll work something out.

Who are you working for?
I worked for several years in PR in NYC...just curious which company/who you report to?

Cool. The rangers said the ice around the higher peaks should be gone in the next few peaks, replaced with some nice, clean mud, so you may not need the crampons. Catskills are very nice and very unspoiled, you're in for a treat! :-)

Good work.

Artex, Congratulations on the job!

I hope I can stay at my job another 10 years. I hate interviewing.

Ice - yep, you and I are still sort-of-kind-of neighbors. I'm probably going to move up near Montvale or Old Tappan, somewhere in that area. I'm scoping out a new apartment now. If you ever want to come with me up to the Catskills, or Harriman St. Park, lemme know, I go all the time.

And I hear you about the interviewing, Snow Nymph. It blows. Glad I won't have to deal with it for a while (knock on wood!).

congrats Artex! Guess I won't be seeing you in Maine...but, hey, Catskill mtns are some of my fave places to play!

The rangers are pretty diligent up there. I remember lasts year's TT Catshike-

my rental snowshoes broke, so I had to hikes up Slide in my snowclogs (best alternative traction option I had available.)
The ranger was very nice, but she was very concerned about our safety. She hung out with us a bit and met up again at the summit.

Crampons would have really helped at the top. The rime ice coated everything up there. It was beautiful. :-)
