Are you a responsible backpacker?

“I did not convert trekking poles to a shotgun, that was a tongue-in-cheek post. However, I have personally seen a pair of forearm crutches configured that way by a friend of mine who is an amputee and a gunsmith. The firing mechanism is in the bottom with a hidden trigger at the top. Only the bottom 4 inches or so of the aluminum crutch shaft are fortified. No real aiming involved, just point in the general direction and fire. There's no choke so it is a short range weapon with a wide pattern. It would probably scare the bejeebers out of a potential assailant rather than do serious damage.
