“Gracie is potty trained. She fought against us to take a no. 2. Last week I took her and she did it. She came out of the bathroom and said, Daddy, I did it! I dropped the kids off at the pool.

Unfortunatly Barbie heard that. I guess I said it too many times and she picked up on it.”

I used to complain about my old boss Jim all the time, and probably called him an a$$hole more than once around the kids not thinking they were listening. While driving to day care one morning, some idiot cut me off. Under my breath (or so I thought) I said something like "what an a$$hole". So my son pipes up from the back seat and says "Mommy, was that your boss Jim."

We had to have a little discussion later about bad words!”

“She copies everything from us. Barbie has a habit if saying s h i t after she stubs a toe or dropps something. Grace fell off the couch once and after she hit the floor, she yelled out s h i t !”

“WK...my oldest did the same thing and from what I'm told I was trying to fix my baby buggy when I was about that age and our neighbor asked "what's the matter?" To which I replied "this damn thing won't stay up."

“My youngest is quickly turning into a full fledge teenager and has tested the waters lately to see what he can ge away with.

However, all is not lost. It is when I see glimpses of the following I know there is hope :-)

Afterfootball season he started work at a local grocery store. Last night a mature lady at the grand old age of 91 came to do her shopping. She asked my son to go get her friend out of the car to come help her because the shopping ended up being too much for her. When he reached the car he found that the friend was 87 and had driven the other lady there because her son wouldn't bring her.

When they returned to the store, my son suggested that the friend wait on the bench and the 91 yr old take one of the little driving carts and he would help her do the shopping. He walked with her the entire time and read the list, which he said was almost impossible to read.

When they finished he bagged her groceries and helped them both to the car. This morning as he told me about the incident he shook his head in disbelief that the son wouldn't take her to the store.

Hopefully when I'm that age he won't forget that day and will assist me when I need to pick up a few things from the grocery!”

Seriously I have to say both my boys have big hearts (not sure where they get that from) but I have seen my oldest assist those in need.”

“BowlderSon's picture was in the local paper today because of the upcoming Nutcracker ballet in our city. Unfortunately, they identified him by his secondary role, the toy soldier, instead of his primary role, the Nutcracker Prince (the pic was of him in his Nutcracker role from last year). Also, they mentioned his "Clara" counterparts, but not him. Bastards!”

“We watched my cousin's son win his third Upper Peninsula Individual Wrestling Championship in a row this past weekend. His finals match was his 89th win in a row and he won by pin. He competed in Midwest tournament this past year in Kansas and was runner-up in his weight class. He also has a 4.0 GPA!”

“twignut has been talking about enlisting. she is not sure which one yet but it is stronge in her. i feel like it is a bidding war for her with all the phone calls. but she is waiting and not jumping at this. I am very proud of her.

Science Olympiad Saturday....up against a bunch of schools that center their programs on the Olympiad...My daughter came away with a 3rd place medal in the Medical Mystery program...!!!!”

He told me that he's opening a meditation school. The kid does not stop talking so I explained to him that when meditating in his meditation school, he would have to be quiet. He informed me that they would only meditate during lunch breaks and coffee breaks...never a dull moment :)

I have to brag on my youngest. He just go promoted to team leader at Zaxbys. Not bad for a 17 year old...he is doing great in school...! I feel sure he will be a captain of the football team this fall...the coaches are already relying on him for off season leadership.”

“BowlderSon participated in the "Certificate of Merit" program for piano yesterday for the second year. It is a program put together by the Music Teachers Association of California. A teacher enters their students in whatever level seems appropriate for them (there are like a half dozen levels I think). Last year, all of the students from B-Son's studio passed at their level, and B-Son was invited to perform at the Honors Recital. So this year he entered the next level up from last year, which required performing four pieces from different periods, all by memory. He passed with flying colors, with the evaluator giving him the maximum marks on every piece. He also smoked both the written music theory test and the ear training part. And, again, he has been invited to perform in the Honors Recital this coming Saturday!”

“My son just completed his year as State President of DECA (Student Marketing Association with 7000 members in TN). Watching him preside over the ceremonies was pretty emotional. To realize that there is not much more I can do to help him develop character is almost overwhelming. He is at that point he has to start getting it done on his own. Having him here with me in Knoxville next fall will be a blessing.”

“My 5yo (little blond girl) said: "I don't want to vote for President. I don't know who to vote for. I kind of like the one who looks sort of like me but I'd rather vote for George Washington. You know, the one on the quarter."”

“Last night Austin told me he never wanted to move out...he's such a little lovebug...

Then there's his sister - when I went to hug her while she was watching a hockey game on tv, she said "hey - you're making me miss a fight!"”

“Gee, and here I am happy with Laurel's response to getting smacked in the face with a shovel yesterday: "HEY! Watch it!" No tears or anything. She didn't get hit hard, and the only injury is a small cut to the gum tissue 1/2 inch above a canine tooth. It already looks like its closing up as of this morning, when I checked her mouth after she brushed her teeth. Her only real complaint was when I made her swish salty water around in her mouth to clean the cut out.

She and the 8 year old neighbor kid were digging in the dirt I had delivered yesterday when this occurred. His mom was upset that he was careless, and then very pi$$ed off when Hunter said "Oh she'll be fine, it's nothing" and wasn't apologetic at all.

ok ok so its only the 3rd grade...but she's in the Advanced 3rd Grade Class. ”

“My wife and I were so worried our almost 2 year old son would have problems when we brought our new baby home. The other day the baby starts balling. I'm tearing up the house looking for a pacifier. Up walks my son holding one out to give to me. I give it to the baby and a few minutes later it falls out of her mouth and she starts crying again. My son walks over, lifts up her blanket, gets the pacifier out of her swing and puts it back in her mouth. I think everything's going to be just fine.”

“Cool! It's nice to have a helper for little things like that once in a while.”

“B-Son made the honor roll - he's now 5-for-5 (5 trimesters so far) for honor roll in middle school....”

“My ten year old is so creative. We have trouble throwing away things because she'll grab them an make something out of it.

Her latest creation is a fairy house that she put out in the garden for fairies to move into. The bowl of honey water is their favorite food.

Abby and I had the best weekend. I took her first grade brownie troop to our Girl Scout neighborhood encampment. We stayed in a troop house but probably walked about eight miles Saturday, going to other areas to do activities, walking to the dining hall, etc. We did some trail hiking and a lot of walking on dirt roads. The girls were troopers and no one complained. I didn't have to pass out a single band aid all weekend and no one threw up! It was a 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms all weekend. It rained to the East and West of us but we got not a drop until the wee hours of this morning. The wildflowers and dogwood trees were blooming and the girls are NUTS about being outside and hiking now. There is one little girl who is always, always last at everything and is very quiet. She just blossomed this weekend and led every hike and was laughing and singing the entire time. We had girls lose shoes in mud and fall in mud and they didn't cry or complain. It was amazing and I am so tickled with all of them. We all had such a good time and I'm just busting with pride for these little girls.
