Son Backpacks
Well, since I'm offically NOT a BPr I can say my son is. He just got back from a 30 mile hike. They started at The Road To No Where and did the loop...staying at sight 71 & 75 (I think) sorry...don't have specifics. I am so excited he went. It is his third trip and every time he goes he says he is going to go again. I hope he keeps it up!

It ended with a waist high river crossing and he still loved it! LOL

30 miles is a pretty good hike. At least the waist deep water crossing was at the end of the hike.

for the record, he DID NOT GET ARRESTED!!

We went to the MTA (transit) Hearings last night
Now I have never been to something like that. Very interesting

But after a 4 1/2 hour hearing I was ready to leave but my son very much wanted to voice his opinion. They plan on getting rid of the bus he takes to go to school. But in his speech he said nothing about that. Instead, he talked about what an impact it would be on the local hospital and old folk center.
He was very upset to see how other people were upset and let me tell you, he gave them somethings to think about.

My fav part was when two of the board members were talking, my son stopped and said, "excuse me, am I interrupting you both?"

HAHA
He did pretty darn well for a 16 year old. As we left we asked me where else are they holding meeting like this....oh lord help me 

I feel I can officially join this thread now.

My 17-month old counted tonight. She and daddy have been practicing, and she did it for me. Obviously there is a bit of prompting...

Dad: One
E: One
Dad: Two
E: Two (clearly spoken)
E: tweee
Dad: Four
E: Fie
E: Sii
Dad: seven

and that's the end. I about peed my pants.

She has a ridiculously large vocabulary. We of course think she's a genius. :)

Oh, and we bought a potty tonight. I don't plan on acutally taking her diaper off and putting her on it (she won't stay anyway). Maybe before a bath we will, but otherwise it'll just be a fixture in the bathroom. Should be a fun time.

One of my nephews had a 'Giovanni' named Icky. Icky HAD to go everywhere he did for years. Icky was a true lump of fabric, repaired many many times.

My son had a favorite little stuff dinosaur that went everywhere. He also had imaginary friends that were worms. They would also go everywhere. He would "carry" them around in his armpit. weird kid LOL

LOL, my son's favorite number is Two also...when he has 1 of something he says "one", two of something he says "twoo", if he has three or more it's "all twooo"

smiley, we bought our son's potty at around age two and like you said it was just a fixture in the bathroom for a while...we actually started the "training" about a month ago at 2 1/2

Enjoy them while they're little and sweet...

My son, for whom I appologize a lot more than brag, asked last night if there was a good acoustic guitar tune I thought he should learn. I said, Blackbird by the Beatles. We found tabs & videos on the internet and now he's playing it a little, enough to recognize.

Made me proud!

Smart move. Maybe buy several and 'rotate' them so they won't be to new.

My nephew would lose his and not miss it until night time. Then the heartbroken screaming starts!

Charlie will be 11 months on the 17th. He was ready 2 months ago, but got lazy. The kid is a bullet when he crawls so I am afraid he will be quick after he has been on his feet for a month or so.

He has super long legs and is in the 90%tile of height for his age. Weight is a different story. Kid is a garbage disposal. Will eat anything you put near him, yet only weighs 18 or so pounds. Looks like he may take after me.

We had to take Hayden (just over 4 months old now) for an ultrasound yesterday. I've been freaking out for a week and worrying about it. Apparently, the little fat rolls on her legs are a tiny bit uneven which can be a sign of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip. Anyway ~ she was a little champ at the appointment and doc told us she's perfect. No DDH! I was SO relieved. :)

She's very strong - I suspect she'll walk quite early. I put her on the couch and lean her against the back and she'll stand there forever. LOL This pic was from a few weeks ago...

This isn't really bragging, but I didn't think the "What have my kids done now thread" was what I wanted either. Anyhoo, my daughter made this little 21 second stop-action video using a clay fox she molded.
