I do know how importian its is to the little guys when they score.
last year it was the last game of the season and my son caught the football for his one and only goal. I was right there to get it on tape.

“Ok, folks. Maple's hubby here to her rescue. (least I can do for her on her b-day) As for the belching/hiccuping computer, I have to vouch for her as well as our son's team's 13-0 record. They are heading into first and second round of playoffs this weekend and ready to come thru it hopefully undefeated.”

“WOW! What a great evening! We started off by hosting a party of about 30 of Cameron's groupies. I then hustled him off to the theater before coming back to our house for the rest of the party. He was so excited!

Show time: Cameron's part came in the second act, and it was spectacular. The Gingersnaps were in costumes that were so bright, they hurt your eyes! Don't know about the other kids (wasn't watching them!), but Cameron (the youngest and smallest of them) performed flawlessly - I know because I had seen a rehearsal, so knew the choreography. His big moment, of course, was when Mother Ginger realized one child was missing and found HIM under her skirt (we had debated earlier as to whether giving a wedgie during the performance would have been a good joke). He scrambled out to the delight of the audience, then ran off the stage. During their bows, he scooted under the skirt again, and was discovered again by Mother Ginger, although this time it meant he could take his own (choreographed) bow. There were many hoots and hollers by his legion of nearly 50 fans/groupies!!!

The only downside to the evening, according to Cameron, was that he only got to perform once, and that the evening seemed to go too quickly.

“Daughter just called to say it's been a big week for her. Started with notification that she has made the National Merit Finalist level. Then yesterday her principal and guidance counselor told her she was going to receive her high school's top academic scholarship ($1,500 to apply toward any college expense) and has been named to Michigan's academic "all-state" roster. She has worked so hard, with such a positive attitude, that it feels so good to see her recognized.

Now she's down to her last two h.s. gymnastic meets -- conference Friday night and U.P. State championships next week. Fingers crossed for her performances there, as her recent dual meet performances have been great, too. Amazing to watch your child reach these crossroads and handle them with such strength and confidence.”

The meet was good -- she took 3rd in the conference for floor exercise (could I ever do a cartwheel no-handed?) and her team cruised to the meet championship, I think for the 4th straight year! Lots of smiles. And great sports(wo)manship -- the seniors from competing schools were all hugging and posing for pics together; having gone head to head for the past four years, they have gotten to know each other pretty well. That was cool.

A 360-yard homer! That would be almost 1100 feet, or about twice as far as the longest major league homer ever recorded (a 565' bomb by Mickey Mantle). Impressive! Hope it turns into some healthy endorsement contracts to put you into a lifestyle to which you'd like to become accustomed!

for months I had problems with Bryan in school (7th grade), just been so lazy that he messed up all his grades. He never did his homework, or completed his assignments in school. Of course that would mean an F everytime something was missing.

I knew he could do better, so i punished his butt one more time. Hopeing this time it will finally sinck in. I think he was grounded for over a month, I made him write a report on why he did what he did, if he learned a lesson, etc... He wasn't allowed to do anything but read, no tv, no games, no friends, nothing.

I really did feel sorry for my baby, but I knew I had to go through with it.

Bryan brought home his first interims (progress reports) yesterday. All A's. You go boy!!”

So far I haven't had any problems with my kids school performance so I am very happy with that.”

I literally spent my whole eighth grade year grounded,( no phone, tv or friends). It was awful but I brought it on myself. I sure did better ninth grade!”

“hyway, never thought it would happen to Bryan either. With Bryan it started in the 5th Grade.

Tuff Love sometimes can be harder on the parents. I hated to see him sad everday for over a month. I have to say now though, since he doesn't have anything to hide he is happier then ever.

“When my girls went thru kindergarten, every single student was a star of the week at some point during the year. I not sure if it was done by lottery or by a set progression, but it definately wasn't due to performance. Except that, bad performance might cause you to lose your turn as Star performer.

“My 6th grader just got off of grounding for antics on the school bus...and THEN...embarassed the crap out of me at a band concert!!! HE WAS BEING THE CLOWN so, I got called to the front of the stage after the performance! ANYWAY..the band director made him write 75 paragraphs about proper behavior..I HOPE and pray that this will be it for a bit! As far as grades he seems to be doing really good which is a change from past years!”

“That is funny Maple. My 9 year old called his "girlfriend" yesterday and pretented to be her girlfriend, but then he had to laugh and hung up the phone. The little guy is in love, it's too funny!”

“My 7 year old found a new way to earn money. His girlfriend said she'd give him a dollar if he promised to marry her. Easy money!

We hiked up a hill last summer and he said "my boys are tired!" He and I did 5 backpacks last summer, 4 of them with his older sister (11) and Mom. I sure hope he keeps up the hiking with Dad.”

Anyway, I promised more bragging when baseball season got here... Yesterday, Cameron scored the winning run for his team in extra innings in a 4-2 win. I'm actually bragging on ALL of the kids on the team - you'd never expect a bunch of 7-8 year olds to play like pros! Their fielding was unbelievable - no runs through the first 5 innings. They let down a bit in the final inning to let the other team tie up the score (although there were some pretty hard hit balls). But our guys came back in the top of the 7th. Cameron led off. He had struck out his first 2 times up, but I told him I knew he could do it. With one strike, he hammered a grounder up the middle for a single. The next kid also got a single, moving Cameron to second. The 3rd batter was one of our kids who had never played before this year, and he HAMMERED one into the gap in left-center, scoring Cameron. The next batter grounded out, knocking in an insurance run in the process. In the bottom of the inning, Cameron made another good fielding play (handled 8 chances at pitcher and first base without an error), and 'we' held 'em to win 4-2. The Tigers are now 2-0 - next game is Tuesday evening....”

Laurel's not up to baseball yet, but she's crawling FAST, growls at everyone, and tuesday I taught her how to do rasberrries! TTHHBBBT!”

“Mine just turned 16 and (more than anything) wanted tickets to go see the Eagles. This from a kid who listens to rap almost exclusively. We had to say yes. We got front row seats at the first show of the Farewell I tour. hehe. I can't believe he even wanted to go. He is awesome. So diverse. The Eagles?”

Another brag for Cameron: we went to the A's game on the spur of the moment last night (they beat the Angels again for a 3-game sweep - woo hoo!). When Tim Hudson struck out his first Angel, Cameron shouted, "Grab some pine, meat!!" (a favorite of Giants radio announcer and former pitcher Mike Krukow). Cracked everybody up around us....”
