Yea me! I actually did it!

I'm the gal with the blue turtleneck on. The first pic is just the presenters, the second pic is our whole team who worked on the project.

Long days, indeed, but well worth the joy on their faces today!

Again, thanks Chappy. To be honest, I'm just too lazy to figure it all out. I rarely have pics to post anyway. ;)

Today we had a pizza and ice cream party with the kids, and gave them certificates for participating. They really had bonded over the last several weeks, and it was evident today how much fun they had with each other. The principal came in to party with us, which was nice. I got my picture taken with him, so I can put it in my student teaching portfolio. :)

That is so cool smiley girl. If they llke this kind of thing, check out FIRST Robotics. It's a high school engineering competition. I think rookie teams get seed money from NASA. It's pretty cool. My son has been doing it for two years and has learned so much!

Creek, I've heard of that competition before. I'm at the middle school level, and would like to stay there. I'll have to tell the kids to be on the lookout for it in high school, though!

Friday, my sons elem school sent all of the kindergarden classes to the circus in Birmingham. My wife and daughter went too. My wife bought each of our children a circus toy. During an intermission Reece asked my wife if she had any more money. She replied that he wasn't getting another toy, why did he ask. My replied that his friend Adam didn't bring any money and he wanted her to get him a toy. It turns out that two kids in his class weren't sent with any money, even for concessions. Little Adam got the toy. I'm big time proud of my 5 year old for noticing a friend was left out and trying to do what he could to help.

very cool dayhiker. You should be proud.

We had a similar thing happen in my daughters preschool. We were told that whenever she sees another kids struggling (doing a puzzle for example) she will go over and help them.

I'm sorry for injecting politics into this thread but this story fits here.

My third grader gets Time Magazine for Kids. I noticed that the latest issue had a small photo of Bush in the upper right hand corner and someone had defaced it (gave him a unibrow, a mustache and long hair). I asked her and she told me she had done it because she doesn't like him.

Guess who went out for ice cream that night? (I'm so proud I could burst.)

My 19 yo nephew, trail name Turtle, that a few of you met at Mt. Momma's near Deep Creek in the Smokies, just called me.
He has just been selected as the only Freshman to go on a month long summer Geology Field Trip to Ireland and Scotland to help one of his professors (along with 9 other students) do research. He also landed a $2000 grant to pay for it!

Dang kid is too busy to backpack with his Uncle any more. ;-)

He and his 21 yo brother are the closest thing I have to kids. I have been very involved with them their whole lives.
I'm very proud of both of them, and most proud that we are friends in addition to the nephew/uncle bond.

Congrats Stove! sounds like a cool kid!

The other night one of my grandgirl's friends asked her to go spend the night - Ana told her she couldn't cause she had homework.
I was impressed!

Stove, the toughest part of parenting is worrying that your kids will not survive once you are gone....It is good to see kids take off good.
One of my best friend's Son was trouble until he graduated high school. He loves video games, he went into the Air Force, he now is a senior TECH on the Joint Star.

All kids are different, I know.
My oldest niece got off to a bad start.
Flunked out of Community College (cutting class, partying), got knocked up by a guy that left her hanging.
She turned her life around. Had my new nephew. Married a good guy about to graduate form Ole Miss Law School, and has given me a new little niece since.
So, Capt. Dan, there is still hope!

Both my daughters have straight A's right now. My older daughter struggled with her classes last semester but she's off to a good start for the 3rd quarter. My younger daughter has been acing her classes all along and I believe she will get into all honors classes when she starts high school in the fall.

Not really my "kid" but still bragging !

My "little sister" just made it into College !!!!!!!! She rocks and has a sorry family life so I had to push hard to even get her to try.

I hope I can get her to go backpacking some this summer. :)

Good for her, Shawn. It's ironic that our kids are fighting for freedom of expression just like we did in the 60s.

They had a battle of the bands at the University in New York that my son attends (The New School - where Project Runway is filmed) and his band won! I was very impressed, because he is a Freshman and his focus is theater and language and the School has two music conservatories. And, at 15 a play he produced and directed won first prize at an inter-university theater contest.

The kid is talented. Auditioned and got a half hour episode on a TV show (Knock First, on the family channel, won several talent contests in High School, and now this.) I didn't make it to the show - I had to teach and there was no way I could get to New York quickly enough after class.

My youngest children are my twin boys Erik and Evan who will turn 13 this Sunday. Tonight was "opening night" for their Middle School Musical - Cinderella. They are in 7th Grade (middle school here is 7th-9th) but they both got great parts and performed extremely well tonight. I am very proud of them.

Thanks. He plays keyboards and violin and sings. He won great seats at a Tori Amos contest by doing the best cover of a Tori song (by audience aclaim) during the warm up for Tori.
He's a bit too full of himself, but I would have been at that age if I had his talent - and the world keeps telling him he's right.

Awesome. I spent 3 years as a tenderfoot in my boyscout troop :).

My 10 yo got her Black Belt in Hap Ki Do this past Saturday. She was very happy. On top of that she scored 2 goals in her first soccer game of the season a few hours earlier.
