I know. I know. We lose an hour. But...

We get one more hour of daylight each night, which means more daytime hiking!

I'm done teaching school at 2:19. It won't get dark here now until 8 or so. That's almost 6 hours per day for hiking! At 3 miles per hour, I could do an 18 mile loop each day. DST is beautiful!

Oh how dumb!! Why not just get up an hour earlier and leave the stupid clock alone?? We do just that in Arizona and it works fine.

[big yawn]

I'm sitting here working on a project and the clock says 1:50am. I don't have the heart to change the clock yet...because in terms of getting up for church, the time is already 2:50am.

Yuck!

Day light safing time sucks when you stay out at the bar till 2 A.M. and have to work at 8 A.M. So then you lose and hour of sleep but you also have a hang over and that makes the day even better. I guess that I will learn some day....

The station was empty
The trains were all gone
I reached in my pocket
And I wanted for dawn

The clock played drums
And I hummed the sax
And the wind whistled down
The railroad tracks

Hey three for a quarter
One for a dime
I'll bet it's tomorrow
By Rocky Mountain time

(AP) OPEC's decision to cut production was expected on Thursday to raise oil prices and fuel the political battle over how to reduce the cost of filling American gas tanks.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries hopes the 4 percent cut will prevent a price drop this spring, when the global demand for oil usually slips to a seasonal low.

Some analysts, however, said the cut could soon push crude prices above the psychologically important threshold of $40 per barrel and worsen the pain for U.S. motorists.

If OPEC members stick to their quotas, U.S. crude could spike to $40 a barrel "within a week or two," said Carl Larry, an analyst at ABN Amro in New York.

I saw a tv ad today by the Bush administration blaming Kerry for the high price of gasoline. Why not.

Drive smaller cars....or better yet, take public transportation. Sheesh.

StanLee: Public transportation? That works if you actually work/live in a city. Most folks I know live out in the country, and we don't even HAVE buses or trains, or subways. Shoot, my opportunity for cheaper transportation is buying a motorcycle, or carpooling.

DST is Ending Tonight
I kinda like it. The shorter days are kind of a bummer for backpacking though, but I do sleep better in general with the longer nights. The locals here tell me it gets dark ~3:30pm towards the solstice. That'll be an experience.

Lumberzac, you'd obviously know better than I, but I bet the longer nights are fun during the winter when there's snow cover and a full moon? I've experienced that before, and I love how bright it can get. Often, you don't even need a headlamp. I imagine I'll get to do stuff like that more often now. It'll be fun.

I don't like driving in the dark to and from work, because I have trouble seeing with all the glare.

When I do my night walks; I follow a set of high voltage power lines down to a local creek behind my house.
