Tell the government to SHOVE IT!!!
Can you fukkin believe it?

Britain may require "smart passports" with biometric information in a few years. The Passport Service wants to introduce passport smart cards, which would contain data on either an iris scan or fingerprints, by 2006.

Also, the FDA has given qualified approval for companies to market computer ID chips which
can be embedded under a person's skin in the US.

There's a little known law in Canada that says anybody can be asked for their ID anytime, anywhere by the authorities...if you cannot produce said ID, you can be locked up in prison...no phone call, no lawyers etc. Don't know when this law was in effect (a long long time ago)...but it's in the book.

If you don't have anything to hide...I think the computer chip under the skin is a plus.

They use them on dogs in the Iditarod. How does Sarabelle feel about that?

Another tools that could have use if it could not be turned to devious invasions of our privacy.

They have been using implants in cows in diaries for years. A computer can track the milk output for each cow without the milker needing to write a thing. So get you implant and say MOO.

SHHEEEESH! Get over yourselves!!
Are you Frickin' kidding me? How many of you really believe the government, or anybody else, gives a rat's rear end where you go or what you do? They're spread so thin tracking wolves, battling lawsuits from oil companies and environmental groups, fighting terrorists, looking for meth labs, making sure McDonald's is using real beef, and on ad nauseum, that they don't have time to follow some lowley-schmuck-backpackers around all day!!

Elvis IS DEAD; there's no conspiracy. The Government's too dumb to start one!

In addition to the visceral repugnence of having the government's paw on you so closely, there is another reason to resist this technology.

Part of the reason we have retained a high degree of freedom in the USA is because the government cannot control us very well. We are very spread out and mobile, have guns, and can become more or less anonymous if we want. The advent of biocards and biochips changes all this. The government would be able to track and control us to a degree before possible. Not to mention to possibility of remotely altering commands and/or information in such chips. All that is needed is for a precipitating event, like 911, for the gov't to take away our liberties.

That's the danger of bio-IDs and implanted chips, along with many others we can probably not even imagine.

You are right again.

If these clowns are worried about the government they can just bury more weapons and ammo in the yard.

Or......they could move to Montana.

Oh My Gawd!
Holy Mac 'n Cheese, Batman! I agree w/ Stevehiker. (See Steve, sooner or later I got yo' back.) Although, I'm sure the government has enough irons in the fire not to want to track little 'ol me, there are other reasons to have a prob. w/ this. Mainly, that I don't want to become part machine. Even if that part is microscopic. I never had a desire for breast implants . . . I mean shoving silicon sacks under one's skin is varily twisted. I have the same feeling about a computer chip in my hand or forehead or whatever. Some people say these things could be used to prevent kidnapping. There is no way in hell that I would have one implanted in my daughter. Also, not to be too Marvin Gardens on the subject, but some believe that having these things implanted is akin to taking the "mark of the beast." In Revelations it talks about taking the mark of the beast on one of your hands or your forehead. The devil's mark is 666 . . . anybody ever check a barcode out?

Tom-
The problem with "hiding out" in Montana is that there are only 900,000 people here; everybody knows you! About 25 years ago (still cold war era) the State Dept. tried to relocate that Russian MIG pilot, who defected by landing his plane in Japan, to, get this.. Phillipsburg, MT. They gave him a new identity as a "Czech Art Dealer". He started dating a girl from our college who was teaching school there. The whole town and half the University of Montana knew about the guy! The State Dept. relocated them shortly thereafter.

All things considered, the best place to hid out would be Cleveland.

I think it's a STOOOOPID idea!
What is is gonna stop??? All the terrorists were here LEGALLY! The Bush administration is trying to grant amnesty to a lot more ILLEGAL ALIENS! The latest terrorist attack on America was not a problem with the IDs the terrorists had! The airlines didn't break any laws! The INS is and immigration to the U.S. is moot! Many political contributions are made by companies that save LOTS of $$ by using illegal immigrants! As long as we sweep this problem under the mat there will be loopholes that allow ANYONE into the U.S.
No, I'm on on the Pat Buchanan wagon, I think it's fine to let people immigrate... that is what made and defines America to this day. Let's pay attention to who we let in, and STOP BRINGING PEOPLE IN ILLEGALLY to "do jobs nobody else wants to do"

Ummm...
This technology is not owned by the government. As a matter of fact when ADS (the guys who do own it) approached the government they said "no thanks." The technology is untested and still in its infancy. This ain't happening to level some of y'all are worried about for a loooong time.

Right now this is being developed for two markets. Those with severe medical conditions and livestock with more focus on livestock cause that is where the money is.

ADS is right here in my town and I personally know two of the marketing guys that work on this project.
