Great Sites
Great jobs Tekapo and Snow Nymph! I wish I could get myself sat-down and build a site! You guys have some great ideas..

Snow nymph- I really liked your Gibbs Lake pics! It looked like a blast. It got me all fired up to get my snowshoes out. we've still got a few months on skiing/snowshoing left up here. It'll just barely be off the trail when you come up for Montanapalooza.

Those Kelty's look big when you take all the bells and whistles off. SnowDude's Cloud looked huge on the JMT, and people kept commenting on it. My pack looked the biggest, but it was actually the lightest. Hikin Mike was 51 lbs, Tekapo was around 45 lbs, and mine was 31.5 lbs.

I love snowshoeing! and backpacking! Can't wait for the next one.

Oh man, those pics from you both were sooooo choice!! Dana looks like it would have some awesome backcountry decents on a board. It also looks like that snow is melting fast!! Here comes spring!

Hey Snow Nymph: How's the Stephenson's treating you? Do you have any problems with it? I've always wanted one...

No problems....I had snow (frost) at the front of the tent (single wall) but wiped it off. The others had it too. I didn't bother to stake it on this trip since it was just me. I didn't want to break any branches of the trees, so I found two pieces of wood, and used the stump that was there. Its sooo easy to set up. I've used the tent in rain, wind and snow, and love it! I had a problem in a monsoon in AZ, but it was my fault. It wasn't staked, held only by one big boulder, and I threw my gear inside to hold it down (duhhhh) and the monsoon hit and threw my tent around like a click-clack (remember those?). I remember rocks and bushes flying above, and looking at the other tents flattened out, with the guys inside. It resulted in two broken poles, and a few 1/4 inch tears from the gear inside hitting the rocks outside. It cost me $36 for pole replacements, glue and scraps to repair the tent. Its good as new! I'll have it at Purple Lake in June.

Snow Nymph,

How did you connect your water bottle to the hipbelt on the Kelty Flight?

I'm looking at the new Kelty Satori (which replaces the Flight), and it doesn't have water bottle pockets either.

TT, I use a small caribiner hooked to the waterbottle holder and a loop on the pack. It bounces a little, but its ok.

Awesome photo albums. I wished I was there!

Some of the mountain pictures with clouds and sun stopped me cold!

Hikin Mike took some video of the trip. Looking forward to seeing those.

HM, what kind of video camera was that? ? We're looking for one. I was telling SnowDude how small and light it looked, but couldn't remember what it was.

Snow Nymph,
The video camera I have is a JVC DVL510. There are smaller ones out, but they were more pricey. I can get stills off of the video, as well as take digital stills. The resolution isn't as good as a regular digital still camera, but it is pretty good for the web.

The video isn't that long (appx. 10 minutes) or well-produced, but it's cool to look back on. Let me know via e-mail where to send the video and I'll get one to you. I'll even put the Crocker Point hike that Tekapo and I did in January!
