Sipsey trip in Sept.

“Yea, I know its early to start planning, but those of you that know me know how busy I am. I have thought about the Sipsey trip in Sept. From the best I can tell most people want waterfalls, botony, unique places, and out of the way cross country type hiking. Ya'll let me know what your looking for, how many days, what part of Sept., etc.. and I'll put something together.

“The last weekend in September is the only one possible for me. That one is still iffy.”

“The last weekend, Sept 27-29, looks OK for me. Other possibilities include the weekends of Sept 1 or 15. On the other hand who knows where I will be then job wise (sigh) - don't worry I'll try to get there - and I might even pack in a saw (grin)”

“I should be up for this one. One warning about the waterfalls though. It will be fairly dry in Alabama at this time and most waterfalls will be at a very low flow.”

“We generally get about 4 inches of rain in Sept. The best time to see the waterfalls are in the summer months when we get 6 - 8 inches of rain. The prettiest times are in the heart of winter when they are frozen. Of course this is a bad time for people traveling to get here. Several people had mentioned doing a hike in Sept. I'm flexible and can go about anytime except the last of august - first of sept. Right now I'm thinking of five waterfalls, six bluff shelters, micro-climate area, united states territory marker tree, indian artifacts, past history, ice age geography, and if Mother Nature permits a rainbow. All in three easy days, with plenty of time for people to explore.

“Looks like the last weekend in Sept. (27-29) is the best time for everbody. Nothing cut in stone yet, but I will make plans to get off this weekend. Also if anyone wants to start on tues or wed I can provide shuttle so you can leave your car at the park.”

“Thanks for sharing. They seem a bit dark though. Can you lighten them up any after you scan them? My scanner always makes them darker at first until I adjust them back.”

As for the darkness, I guess they are adjusted for my laptop except for the eye of the needle it was dark. I'll try that next time.
