Gun control is like using deet free insect repellant. You put it on, get bit and say, “Damn, I’m getting bitten.”, and put more of the deet free insect spray on, you get bit again and say, “Damn, I’m still getting bitten.”, and put on yet more of the deet free insect spray…[repeat] More of a failed thing does not make it work better.” 11:00:06 AM 10/03/06 “Heck I wonder what ONE trained Teacher with a gun would have done.” 1:12:24 PM 10/03/06 “Only a complete moron would want an armed teacher in a classrom full of kids five-days-a-week. Rarely has there been suggestion quite as idiotic as this.” 1:15:44 PM 10/03/06 “Well we do trust the teachers to INDOCTRINATE them 5 days a week...why not allow them to protect them?” 1:17:31 PM 10/03/06 “And even if it came to that you'd still have a bunch of idiots claiming there was no problem with the scale of gun abuse when an Amish school has to arm its teachers to stop them being shot.” 1:19:03 PM 10/03/06 “Well XL - because given the troubles you say you've had with your own child, and given that a principle was shot already this week, what's to stop a child making a grab for the gun when teacher isn't looking?” 1:20:46 PM 10/03/06 “Oh I think that is where that teensy little word TRAINED comes in. LOL, I have three friends who are teaching in public schools (hey it was a good job and very little work) all three are former Military....think they could handle it.” 1:22:46 PM 10/03/06 “Trained has nothing to do with it. They may be trained, but I'm sure they don't want to be in a confined space with 30 or more children six or seven hours a day carrying a gun. If they would like to, then they need to change their career. I've never come across a single teacher who would want to be armed in the classroom. I'm not sure what reality you are living in XL?” 1:29:15 PM 10/03/06 “So lets poll some of the extremist gun nuts on here. Nigal, Muttly, Prosecutor - would you like to see armed teachers in the classroom.” 1:31:52 PM 10/03/06 “Only a complete moron would want an armed teacher in a classrom full of kids five-days-a-week. - y2 Ah yes, the old "possessing a gun will turn a person into a maniac" argument. The same was applied to airline pilots: "oh noes, what if the pilots go nuts and kill everyone!!11!" So lets poll some of the extremist gun nuts on here. - Y2 You really look down your nose at us, don't you. That said, I'd have no problem with law-abiding teachers - with proper, continuous training - carrying a firearm in a classroom. I seriously doubt that many teahcers would want to, but if an armed teacher stops even one rampage, then it'd be worth it.” 1:38:54 PM 10/03/06 “bottom line - the government better not take my guns or my right to carry. PERIOD everyone who disagrees - start your own country somewhere else with a different constitution - it's NOT negotiable” 1:45:16 PM 10/03/06 “You really look down your nose at us, don't you. Cujo 1:38:54 PM 10/03/06 I try not to, but then you go and open your mouths again ;op” 1:47:04 PM 10/03/06 “Y2, it is so cute...I bet you believe the Police prevent crimes” 1:48:12 PM 10/03/06 “Moonbeam - I'd say it is negotiable - otherwise there wouldn't be those little ammendment things added on would there. Only in your opinion is it not negotiable. Maybe there's an Island you could go to if opinion ever turns against you huh?” 1:48:31 PM 10/03/06 “Silly naive XL - police mostly respond to crimes. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL” 1:51:14 PM 10/03/06 “The amendment thingy isn't for CHANGING what is already there. Speaking of that, are you from America Y2? ... that's what I thought” 1:52:49 PM 10/03/06 “On a more serious note - I don't know what the answer truely is, but what I do know is that burying your head in the sand and chanting that there is no problem will do nothing, and you'll end up with incidents like those seen this week every few months. It's like Alcoholism - first stage in dealing with it is accepting that there is a problem.” 1:54:25 PM 10/03/06 “Arming teachers isn't the answer. Anyone that takes a weapon into a school, especially a hand gun is, in my opinion, a few cans short of a six pack. With the exception of the most recent incidents, most school shootings occur in high schools (I believe). I feel that parents need to be involved more in the lives of their children. I remember the parents of the 2 kids that shot up Columbine saying they had no idea their kids were planning this. Okay, why not is the question I raise. So you work 2 jobs to put food on the table. That to me is not an excuse and if it is, you better examine your priorities. Parents today are more selfish than ever, myself inculded. High speed internet, 60" plasma TV's, fancy cars and just a few of the items that make us selfish. WE don't need this #&%!$, we want it. While we spend 10 to 12 hours a day at work trying to pay off all this crap, Johnny and Timmy and blowing away kids that teased them at school. Someone ought to start questioning the wife of the guy that killed the Amish folk yesterday. How can this woman say he was, "loving, supportive, and thoughtful." Come on, really? I don't buy that. This guy was one sick #&%!$. This guy should have been receiving help and if he didn't want any part of it, he should have been locked up. This is not a gun control issue. If guns were illegial, you would find a way to get one.” 1:55:44 PM 10/03/06 “Very Good Y2, Police are a RESPONSE to crime. But I understand how you can be so fearful of another private citizen taking responsibility. It has to be frightening to think of another person showing the guts to take action while you go into the fetal position, suck your thumb and wet yourself. Kinda makes you feel inadequate...” 1:56:22 PM 10/03/06 Y2 “when guns are illegal, only outlaws will have guns...and I'll be one of the outlaws...” 1:57:43 PM 10/03/06 “but what I do know is that burying your head in the sand and chanting that there is no problem will do nothing, - y2 Good thing no one is doing that!” 1:58:49 PM 10/03/06 “That's great for you Super Troll - but you were the one talking about outlawing guns. And I agree with some here when they say the current laws should be enforced. Maybe do that and take a while to see where things stand.” 2:00:40 PM 10/03/06 “Dang most of the really serious killers always seem to have someone say they were nice and well adjusted....LOL It comes to Someone Has to do something. Right after Columbine we had a teacher in the news who was leaving the school when two or three scum were coming in. They told him to leave. He went to his car (two blocks away) drew his sidearm and ended the potential problem.” 2:02:45 PM 10/03/06 “This is not a gun control issue. If guns were illegial, you would find a way to get one.” Bloody Knee Gravy 2:55:44 PM 10/03/06 I agree Knee Gravy; it’s a society issue. Gun control is like giving someone with hemophilia a band-aid.” 2:08:12 PM 10/03/06 “Cujo - but to jump into the thread title here - the NRA actively campaigns to stop ANY look at whether there is a problem with guns. No politician is prepared to take them on, so nothing ever gets done. but you hear it time and time again, guns don't kill people,... cars are more dangerous. It's like saying spinach doesn't kills people, e-coli kills people, and yet the stores rapidly took the spinach off the shevles after the latest scare. I love the US and I choose to live here and I pay my taxes here. Guns will never be 'outlawed' in America, but maybe, sometime gun owners need to realize that the right to bear arms comes with a responsibility and to some extent a cost. That cost is that because it's easy for you to get a gun, it's easy for everyone to get a gun and so you'll see kids and crazies getting hold of them. Wounded Knee makes a good point, about dealing with the roots of the voilence problem. But in the meantime lets make this comparison with the war on terror. Sure in the long run it's better to spread democracy across the middle east, but in the meantime you have to act to stop WMDs getting into the hands of terrorists. Sure we'd like to solve the problems that make people want to go and do thise stuff, but in themeantime, maybe it's right to make it a little harder for the crazies to get the tools to do it. last edited: 10/03/06 2:12:07 PM” 2:10:59 PM 10/03/06 “So true lumber, there is a growing lack of respect for others. In my day we had students who brought knives, heck we shot guns at the range at lunch. But if you had pulled anything there would have been a six million dollar a$$ kicking in your near future.” 2:12:34 PM 10/03/06 “And you can always pick apart a single incident - like this Amish one, saying this wouldn't have worked - but there are a frightening number of spree killings of all kinds, let alone schools - and yet people just seem to shake their heads and accept it.” 2:13:48 PM 10/03/06 “I want to buy another handgun. I like the GLOCKS but I'm not married to the idea. I want one that will make a very large fatal hole in the torso of a home intruder. It would be nice if the bullet would stay within the body to make cleanup a little easyer. I would like to not spend over $500. Any ideas?” 2:19:19 PM 10/03/06 “Buy the biggest gun you can find and we can all just hope evolution comes into play. I'll put in a few bucks to help you with your project. last edited: 10/03/06 2:22:55 PM” 2:22:35 PM 10/03/06 “Y2, ever hear of Andrew Kehoe and the Bath School bombing...1927? THe guys whacked his family, burned the barn with the critters in it..then blew up the school” 2:25:15 PM 10/03/06 ““Buy the biggest gun you can find and we can all just hope evolution comes into play. I'll put in a few bucks to help you with your project. last edited: 10/03/06 2:22:55 PM” Y2 2:22:35 PM XL, Y2 is one of the Brits that found work here in America, complete with the 'I'm better than all you colonists' attitude. He hates guns and everything American. He's particularity fond of telling me to "go suck treebeard's dick", as he thinks that is a very witty comeback. [VBG]” 2:29:06 PM 10/03/06 “Go suck treebeard's dick SS - or did you do so already?] XL - Stovey is one of those guys who likes to play the simple engineer, 'awww shawks, I just makes boats' - and yet he starts hundreds of political threads - I don't think I've started any, maybe a couple in about four years. Then he goes on to try to goad the silly libbies - then cries when one of them tells him to #&%!$ off. That's right, cries, and goes on about it for months. last edited: 10/03/06 2:33:49 PM” 2:29:54 PM 10/03/06 “LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL” 2:34:24 PM 10/03/06 “LOL Y2 is crying. Homophobe. [VBG] last edited: 10/03/06 2:39:13 PM” 2:37:04 PM 10/03/06 “This is pointless, and I shouldn't have taken the bait. You win Stovey, well done. You da man!” 2:42:07 PM 10/03/06 “WOW...so Y2....you're a Brit meaning we are a common people separated by a common language (LOL)...sorry a Reagan line. What we have is a difference of experience. In England if you use a gun you go to prison for ....LIFE till you die. Their prisons are no where near as pussified as ours. They are cold, dank and very uncomfortable. In the US you get life that means..until you can convince the parole board you are not dangerous. Y2 years ago my inlaws had a neighbor who was a close friend of mine. In 1980 the neighbors Good for nothing boy shot (execution style) a police officer leaving two children and a widow. Junior got LIFE in 1996 he got parole. In 1997 he was robbing a gas station at night. An officer drew down, junior reached into his pocket. The officer put a pattern of three shots in the DEAD center of the chest of Junior. His father was raising hell one afternoon when he made the comment,"DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE POLICE DID???" I looked at him and said,"Concluded the case 18 years late?"” 2:43:04 PM 10/03/06 “So................ I am serious about another handgun. Any ideas from those that know guns?” 2:46:40 PM 10/03/06 “Whatcha want? I shoot a 38spec for "concealed" and a .40 S&W . Like them both. Now I want something that will cause severe damage. But it needs to be something with penetration but that you can shoot.” 2:51:09 PM 10/03/06 “I can shoot a GLOCK 9mm well. I hit what I aim for with that gun but it has so many moving parts.” 2:52:47 PM 10/03/06 “I just do not like the lack of the safetys...I really like the HK. I have always liked being able to know I can put out firepower.” 3:02:56 PM 10/03/06 “Huh? Is there any semiauto that has fewer parts than a Glock?” 3:06:34 PM 10/03/06 “Gotta agree with Cujo. I guess if you are looking for reliability go with a revolver.” 3:10:14 PM 10/03/06 “I sure do like the lightness of the Glocks.” 3:11:24 PM 10/03/06 “Get a ceramic Glock 7!” 3:16:54 PM 10/03/06 “OOh..Ceramic? Cujo how does it fit the hand. I tried the Glock an it just didn't feel good.” 3:25:45 PM 10/03/06 “I just can’t understand why Y2 hates freedom so much. Why is it the left is only for the freedoms they see fit to have? Why are Europeans so willing to let their governments rule over them? And why is Y2 so angry he has to call everyone names? Very poor way of trying to get a point across. This guy is living breathing proof that we need to tighten immigration.” 3:38:33 PM 10/03/06 “You know in Europe they are so dead set on the government giving them everything that they cannot fathom the thought of having to be self sufficient.” 3:41:52 PM 10/03/06 “why are people coming here from other countries *cough*y2*cough* who have such an interest in reducing our freedoms” 3:42:11 PM 10/03/06 “Someone should turn Y2 in for breaking his oath upon becoming a citizan… § 1448. Oath of renunciation and allegiance (1) to support the Constitution of the United States; (2) to renounce and abjure absolutely and entirely all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which the applicant was before a subject or citizen; (3) to support and defend the Constitution and the laws of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; (4) to bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and (5) (A) to bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law, or (B) to perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law, or” 3:49:45 PM 10/03/06 “LOL....he didn't really mean it..... but AHEM..."I fart in your general direction English Pig dog." (LOL) last edited: 10/03/06 3:56:53 PM” 3:51:44 PM 10/03/06 Jump to Page << prev
