Meat with bones has the best structural value, such as ribs or chicken, these make up the base of the tower of food!

Leftover beef stew. There's nothing like it. I only eat the veggies so it's a good thing my hubby is a big meat eater.

I went to an outreach for school today (we have to volunteer 55 hours giving massages before we can graduate). It was for battered women from a local shelter. A near-by church had manicures, pedicures, facials, haircuts and styles, and massages for these ladies. It was an amazing experience and I got a fantastic lunch out of it too:
shrimp cocktail
spinach salad
cream of mushroom soup
chicken (baked with cranberries and lipton onion soup mix....great combo!)
twice baked potatoes
green beans
decadent chocolate cake
cream puffs and eclairs
chocolate fountain w/ sponge cake, strawberries, etc

It was quite a spread. The women being pampered for the day were quite overwhelmed.

I defrosted a frozen stuffed pepper I made a few weeks ago and put part of it on a potato roll. Now I'm stuffed more than the pepper, ugh. I need to go out and walk my dog and some of this sandwich off. I'm getting all my calorie heavy foods out of the house to start a weight loss program for New Years. This will be my first New Years resolution. Future posts should say I'm sipping some clear chicken broth for lunch.

I love chicken fried steak! Believe it or not, they served it on the menu in the Plaza Hotel in the restaurant I was a manager in many moons ago. When I would lunch with my boss, he would admonish me for ordering that, because he said the cut of meat was not great that's used for it, but if you make it at home, you can use whatever you want.

Sass, as I was scrolling down, I caught your post out of the corner of my eye and thought you wrote "biscuits", like dog biscuits, lol!

I had called a dog food company to ask about their new food coming out that is supposed to be like home cooked and the rep on the phone said she even tasted it and it was good. I think she was a little insane. Some really bad stuff goes into dog food. USDA inspected on dog foods means they inspected it and your dog is getting was was not acceptable to humans. People think it's the other way around.

Lite lunch today, just broccoli w/an early dinner of pannelle sandwiches. They are chick pea patties fried and put on a roll w/ricotta and caciovalle cheese. It's a Sicillian food.

I managed to make Chicken Marsala soup, though that was not my intention.

I used homemade chicken stock, reduced by two thirds, a little rigati pasta, corn, peas, lima beans, poultry seasoning, salt, pepper, and a good splash of tawny port. Yum.

Today was the annual chili cookoff at work. I've placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, in the past three years. This year I didn't place at all. Blah.

Oh well, I had a lot of good chili for lunch today !

Everything. Our Christmas potluck was today.

I made a Mint Chocolate Cheesecake. Unfortunately there were a lot of desserts, so there's a lot of it left. Oh well, my daughter will be happy!

Broccoli. I'm starting to ease into my new diet that will officially start for New Years. I've got most of the high calorie food eaten that was frozen or in the house except for one frozen bread dough that will be calzones this weekend for me and hubby.

I tried lemon in that tiny lemon plastic squeeze thingie, and it was good, then hubby bought a big glass bottle of lemon and it's not so good. I put it on broccoli.

It's only a little after 10am, so I have to resist an early lunch of leftover potatoes, peas and pasta that was last nights dinner. You have no idea how good it is, although it doesn't sound that way.

It's made with sauteed onion in olive oil and bacon drippings before you add some tomato paste, water and basil, then small diced potatoes and peas. Anything with bacon is good!

DIETING, I have to remind myself. Lunch was a wedge of lettuce with this incredible delicous dressing. I only used a tablespoon. It's by Green Garden, and called Oriental Sesame. If you love sesame, you'll love this dressing.

Also, I have found that Asian restaurants in my area all have the same white dressing on their salads. It's so good. I have to find out if I can buy it somewhere.

Pinto beans Abdullah!

Freshly cooked pinto beans, still warm if possible and a pureed sauce made of walnuts, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, bread soaked in milk then squeezed out, lots of garlic, and salt and pepper. Yum!

I've got this cookbook published by consumer reports of all things that has fantastic bean recipes in it. This is one of my favorites.
