Diet back on after a weekend of snarfing cookies and high abv beers.” 9:02:38 AM 9/23/08 “left over home made pizza” 9:04:07 AM 9/23/08 “leftover restaurant pizza. no WOW there, sorry.” 9:10:15 AM 9/23/08 “homemade pumpkin pie. and pb&J on homemade bread” 9:18:29 AM 9/23/08 “Well I had some leftover curry chicken and rice that chili made last night, but then he called to see if I wanted to go to Qdoba...DUH!!! So leftovers will wait until tomorrow.” 9:21:25 AM 9/23/08 “mmmm, qdoba...do y'all have chipotle's down there?...i like them even better...menu's smaller though” 9:38:09 AM 9/23/08 “Not here. Not yet. Qdoba just opened about a year ago..I was sooooo glad when it did.” 9:44:01 AM 9/23/08 Like Mom & Pop Places “My neighborhood grew. We now have a Panera Bakery which has excellent chocolate chip bagel. Their other bagels aren't nearly as good as they are in NY, that goes for finding good pizza here (in WA). Lots of other chains opened up, but I like mom & pop places like I used to go to in NY when I lived there. I don't like these cookie cutter neighborhoods. You can't go someplace else to find different restaurants with us all having the same chain places. Lunch will be leftover home made pizza, topped with broccoli.” 10:02:46 AM 9/23/08 “Whats for lunch folks? I've had strage cravings all week sicne last week...yesterday it was hot dogs...which I normally hate!! and today it's chicken. all week it's been an unhealthy obsession with frenchfries. Yet I'm losing weight, not gaining. Go figure! Today I want chicken so bad....I'm gonna have to get some for lunch. last edited: 9/24/08 7:16:12 AM” 7:15:19 AM 9/24/08 “Rueben sandwich.” 8:02:02 AM 9/24/08 “A half of a burger and potato skins from our favorite neighborhood bar. It was tough watching Birch drink his PBR. I made do with a water.” 10:25:33 AM 9/24/08 “Just had some quinoa, didn't eat it in years. It's high in protein and contains an almost perfect balance of the 8 essential amino acids.” 10:35:54 AM 9/24/08 Quinoa “It's not lunchtime here yet (WA), but I'm thinking about it. It may be a Lean Cuisine Chicken in a Basil Cream sauce w/spaghetti. I'll add some broccoli to that. Quinoa is a grain that is recommended to use in a home cooked diet for your dog if you use grain, because of how good it is and it's gluten free. I haven't tried it yet. Rich, anyone, what is the texture like and how do you eat it? Do you add a tab of butter and fluff it up? Does it taste good plain?” 10:42:51 AM 9/24/08 “I just ate it plain after it was simmered for 25 minutes with water and a little salt. I thought it was good that way. Next time I'll put some butter and grated cheese on and see what that's like. I thought it was kind of like oatmeal in texture, but doesn't have the flakes that oatmeal has. It is kind of crunchy in a way. I simmered mine a little longer because it's easier for me to swallow that way and added a little extra water. I noticed recipes on the net that look good.” 10:59:10 AM 9/24/08 “Home made beef stew w/carrots, potatoes, onions, fresh peas. My bride is a world class cook.” 11:17:36 AM 9/24/08 Quinoa “Thanks Rich. I was thinking a bit of butter and a sprinkle of cheese would sound good too. hardman, I LOVE beef stew. My husband is a big meat eater and I'm not, so it works out well that I eat most of the potatoes, peas & carrots. I envy you! I'd make it more often, but we always over eat when I do. We say we'll never do it again, but we do, lol.” 11:53:21 AM 9/24/08 “We eat it like that too Lipstick as I like the beef more myself. I feel very lucky in that my wife loves to cook, watchs the cooking shows, and makes all kinds of stuff. Thats why I have to stay in the gym, run, bike, hike, you name it. It is extra handy for winter hikes as she makes my stews, freezes them and I take em on the trail. I think I am going to look into that quinoa, sounds interesting.” 12:34:01 PM 9/24/08 TV Food Internet Site “hardman, it's the same here. I'm a good cook also and I know you and my husband both are lucky, because not every woman can cook. I do cook the stew in a big batch, but it never ends up in the freezer, lol. That's why we also try to stay very active. On a side note, I have experienced the potatoes in the stew tasting different the next day sometimes, so I make fresh boiled potatoes the next day and add them to the leftover stew. The potatoes, even though they are boiled, still taste like they were cooked in the stew. Sometimes I use the TV food network internet site when I'm making something I don't usually cook to make sure I've included all the ingredients or look through recipes and combine them to make it my own way: http://www.foodnetwork.com/” 12:44:51 PM 9/24/08 “Lipstick, that is great idea. I will pass that suggestion along. We husbands do appreciate your efforts. I love to eat but at 52 years old I have to watch the diet. I am looking forward to ham, black eyed peas on rice, and cooked down squash for lunch today. Dang, I am hungry already!” 6:13:12 AM 9/25/08 “mmmm, taco bar pitch in for a coworkers going away...of course, drama erupted when someone went back for seconds before everyone had gotten firsts...i simply can't handle the drama the recipe bank on footnetwork.com is very good...some times i find it hard to decide which one to make last edited: 9/25/08 9:25:53 AM” 9:23:54 AM 9/25/08 “For the first time in years I had to resort to a frozen dinner today. Ugh!” 9:43:37 AM 9/25/08 “hmmm..bagel...” 9:39:27 AM 9/26/08 “Here's a tip. If you cook it in the oven, it won't be frozen anymore. ;-)” 9:41:42 AM 9/26/08 “We had leftover homemade vegetable beef stew for lunch today. Everything in it was local, if not grown in our own garden. Even the cow was local. That was some of the best soup I've made.” 6:42:40 PM 9/26/08 Jump to Page << prev
