The bakery where TT's very own Griz works had a small write up in January's edition of Gourmet Magazine. There's even a picture of the store on p.49.

"Mrs. Backer's Pastry Shop traffics in achingly sweet buttercream-and-cake confections, but never mind those. Snatch up some of the best rasberry bismarcks (a.k.a. jelly doughnuts) America has to offer, or some tart, kuchen-like fresh fruit squares, while gawking at rococo frosted cookies that mutate with the seasons."

Congrats on the coverage, Griz. If anyone is in Salt Lake, try some of the treats. I can attest they're the best!

No stanlee, This is not the first by any means. We had a freelance guy for INN news who did a story that was shown all over the country. There were so many calls in NYC that they had to show it twice.

We were even recently contacted by Martha's writers. We'll see how that pans out.

It's kinda fun.

Yeah, Martha visited Seed Savers farm here. Report was: Nice on camera, #&%!$ when it was turned off.

Martha might be a witch, but she sells. I like Bob Vila, myself. I'll never forget the time he told a homeowner that she had to replace the plumbing, and she flipped out on camera. The frightened look on Vila's face had me laughing for an hour.

Bob Vila needs to be beat to death with an old rusty saw. For someone that's supposed to be a know-it-all, he sure asks some dumba$$ questions to the builders.

I will put Mrs. Baker's on the list of places to visit.

Bob Vila & Maatha
Notice Bob Vila drives shiny new trucks and never gets his hands dirty.?

Also, last I heard Maatha has a staff of 1000, so she doesn't need to get her hads dirty.

Walkindude, maybe Vila asks the builders dumb questions, because the rest of us homeowners who don't know much, would ask the same questions.

LyndyS, that's why I thought he did it too.

Congrats Griz! And good luck with Martha should that work out for you.

It is getting there. Martha Stewart has a line of housewares, paint and linens at KMart. I think she was negotiating to move it to Lowes or somewhere, if KMart really died. She has been in the news lately because there is an unauthorized biography on her just published. I have a couple of decorating books by her, that I really like. One shows lots of different kinds of door and window moulding, and neat color ideas for painting in your house.

The truth about Martha
This is right off one of my cable news journals...Martha Stewart is the daughter of Satan. It had been observed that whenever Ms. Stewart had put her hands into something that should have left them completly covered with muck, that her skin would absorb the slimey substance. This unusual behavior stirred the curiosity of many and caused the need for further investigation. Once observers began the probe, it was discovered that Ms. Stewart holds nightly gatherings in the woods, where she dances around a large cauldron and fire chanting and gyrating. It has been determined that she is a deciple of satan and probably an offspring. If a close encounter with Ms. Stewart is happened upon, it is imperative that you do not look directly into her eyes, and you must use the two fingered sign of the horn to ward off any evil that eminates from her person. To fail to do this could result in the loss of your soul and being.

This is for real...don't buy any Martha Stewart stuff...the money goes right into the underworld.

Congratulations, Griz! Must be a pretty great place to get that kind of attention. I have a friend near Duchesne (formerly in SLC, and still goes there frequently)--I'll mention it to her.

There is no doubt as to why Mrs. Backers Bakery has received the attention it has. This place is incredible. Griz was kind enough to give me the grandiose tour and a sackful of "samples". I am afraid I will be calling in orders for delivery by FedEx. Griz, how long before we can order off of the net????

Thanks for the nice comments Chili. It's a tough to ship cakes but I have done it before. Cookies are doable. I owe OM some since when she's here, we are closed for vacation :(

Brighton on Saturday Chili. Mark's gonna be there!
