ah nowslimmer! I'm sorry to hear that your date cancelled. You sound much more healthier than she is anyway. Have a great time on your long trip! Oh, and thank you for the compliment. :)

simer! I'm sorry to hear that your date didn't work out either. You know, it sometimes takes a lot of dates before we find the "one".

sirpete, stick with your wife, it's not always greener on the other side is it single people? There are pros and cons to both sides. I haven't drawn up a list but I think it would be about even don't you?

hum...let's see:

pros for being married:
1. always have someone at home to talk with.
2. always have someone to cuddle with every night.
3. ummm...I can't think of anymore. That's terrible isn't it? Oh, can have sex probably more often than a single person! Maybe?

pros for being single:
1. can do anything you want on the weekends.
2. can cook dinner or get take out and eat late at night if you feel the urge.
3. don't have to ask anyone if you can go somewhere without them.

borntobackpack

Going out is when friends can have a good time together without strings attached. It is nice just to have someone to "go out"with.
Just have a good time. :~ )
Dating? Is just different.
trekkngirl

6/18/03

I agree with trekkngirl & om, when just "going out" with someone there is no expectations compared to dating. It leaves you with, "so where do we go from here? Are we an item or exclusive or what? I'm not sure if I like you that much or not."
hikerchic5
4:58:55 PM
6/19/03

I thought there were no strings attached until you get to the committed relationship part. I see no difference between the two other than a date might lead to something more - and that's not to say just "hanging out" couldn't lead to more too.
borntobackpack

there are 4 stages in a relationship (or so i'm told by prominent bachelors)

Stage 1: the Talking Stage.
Obviously, this includes talking. guy thinks girl's cool, girl thinks guy's cool, but they NEVER categorize each other as boyfriend/girlfriend and are not seen in public together. sleeping together involved. if this lasts, stage 2 occurs several months later.
Stage 2: the Hanging Out Stage.
the guy may actually take the girl out in public, but not w/ his buddies, and tell his friends he met a 'cool girl'. sleeping together involved. if this lasts, and the girl stays cool, stage 3 occurs w/in 3 months.
Stage 3: the Seeing Each Other Stage.
this stage involves the girl to meet the buddies. if they approve, stage 4 occurs. if they don't, back on to stage 2 with other girls he's been in stage 1 with.
Stage 4: Boyfriend/Girlfriend.
boy can secretly see other girls, but he expects girl to be true....

I found a post-it last night with "The Givers of Pain and Delight" scribbled on it... and here's what I found. Remember this one? It's a classic.

SPOCK'S BRAIN
(The Givers of Pain and Delight)

AIRED: September 20, 1968
WRITER: Lee Cronin

GUESTS:
Marj Dusay (Kara)
Majel Barrett (Nurse Chapel)
James Daris (Creature)
Sheila Leighton (Luma)

PLOT

A race of imbecile women steal Spock's brain to run their society. McCoy and Scotty hook up Spock's body to move via remote control. Kirk must decide which of three inhabited planets the brain was taken to, although none of them should possess the technology to surgically remove a living brain. Naturally, after Chekov's descriptions of the planets' evolution and population, Kirk chooses the most primitive. Women live in a climate-controlled underground complex, while men live in a semi-savage state on the surface in an Arctic environment. McCoy puts on 'the Teacher,' a thinking cap that gives one great knowledge for a short while, then re-installs Spock's brain. Without their supercomputer (or Spock's brain) to keep everything running, the women have to begin thinking for themselves and interacting with men again.

QUOTES

"Givers of Pain and Delight, she said..."
--Kirk

"Well, surely you noticed the delightful aspects."
--McCoy

"I certainly did notice those delightful aspects."
--Kirk

"Brain and more brain; what is brain?"
--Space Bimbo

"Yes, it's so simple a child could do it!"
--McCoy

"He's operating at warp speed!"
--Scotty.

While I might trust the doctor to remove a splinter or lance a boil, I cannot trust him to replace a brain."
--Spock

"The knowledge to reconnect a brain does not exist yet in the galaxy.
--Spock

"I never should have re-connected his mouth!"
--McCoy

Story from my single days...

There was one girl who I dated when I was younger for a brief period of time...I was 17 and she was 21...

The relationship didn't last long, but we did become initmate during that period of time.

Well...we happened to work together and I don't think she ever stopped liking me.

Over the next 7 years even though we didn't ever date again...she happened to have radar for when I wasn't with anyone and we would "hook up"....

I would try to keep these occasion "hush-hush" from other people at work because the place was like a grape-vine but unforunately her sister happened to also work with us...

EVERY FREAK'N TIME WE DID SOMETHING AT HER PARENTS HER SISTER WOULD CATCH US!!!!!

Either she would see me come out of her room, or sneaking out of the house...etc....never failed!

Then she would run back and tell everyone at work.

Grrrrrr...

End of Story
