yeah, like baume said, the sole purpose of the first date is to determine if you want a second date to happen.

but i'd still be careful with the work thing. you just both have to make it clear that its kept quiet.

Since you asked (and you didn't have to)
Don't do it. The odds are against you. I've seen more careers ruined from dating at work than marriages made in heaven.

Since I am on a roll with cliches, here is a famous old adage: "Don't stick your pecker in your paycheck."

Okay now, we gotta remember this is Artex. The guy who has moved some 10 times in the last 11 years. Sounds like he won't be working with too long before he moves on. And she's hot, and obviously "wants him". This could be good for a long time, or just a night.

How about this cliche': Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.

Oncw again, the Cap'n's on the money (listen to your friends, Artex). You can bet that she bounced the idea of asking you out to all her friends and that includes those that work there. Everyone is already watching.

It can be the pits when a relationship at work doesn't work out, but you are a cool guy and a gentleman. Maybe it's my advanced, menopausal age talking - also the fact that
I'm a teacher surrounded by attractive and intelligent colleagues - and the fact that I'm basically too lazy to travel, but, outside of things that are wrong (adultery, et c.), why avoid some pleasant times through the fear that it might not turn out?

She's attractive, you're attracted and soooooo go for it.

LOL! You guys crack me up!

Monkeyboy, you hit on my line of thinking (actually it's now 12 moves in the past 11 years).

I'm just going to play it cool. I'm not looking for anything serious since I have another major move and a career change coming up within the year. That's the hardcore bottomline. I am extremely flattered that she asked me out, but am wary for reasons many of you have mentioned. Like I said, I've dated coworkers before, and its worked out reasonably well after breakups (though it did suck). However, that in no way means that it will always be like that. But dude... this chick is smokin'!!

Thanks again for the great mix of humorous and serious insight, it was very refreshing and helped put my somewhat nervous mind at ease! :-)

NEW YORK (AP) -- A man who was to appear in court Tuesday on charges of having sex with his girlfriend inside St. Patrick's Cathedral as part of a radio show stunt has died at his home in Virginia, his lawyer said.

Brian Florence, 38, died last Thursday of a heart attack in Alexandria, Virginia, said the couple's lawyer, Maranda Fritz. She said the funeral was Monday, and his co-defendant and girlfriend, Loretta Lynn Harper, 36, is "still in a state of shock."

Just a few stories
When I was an engineering supervisor at GM my boss was dating a divorced woman that worked for me. Lots of weird things were happening until someone told me they were dating...then things made sense. Prior to this woman working for me, she was married to another engineer, who had been a supervisor in our department for while. She was his boss's secretary when they split up and she really got him in trouble. Oh yes, she had also shacked up a few times with another engineer in our department.

At the same time, one of the buyers was shagging the Plant Managers daughter, who worked in Personnel. The Plant Manager promoted a clerk over the buyer to become the next Department Head.

The Head of Reliability Engineering's daughter was working in Personnel also. She started dating one of the engineers in our department (she went through personnel files to find guys to date). After he dumped her, she used her Personnel position to give him a hard time. He transferred to Detroit.

Artex, show her the picture on the photo page, then she will know you are really cool!!!

By the way just don't date someone you work with if their sister works there too....what a pain in the butt when everyone knows what happens before either of you even go back to work the next day!!!

Wow! Talk about prophetic!
Here's an excerp from an Al Franken column in June, 2000 on why it would be a bad idea to have Rush on Monday Night Football:

"Besides being an ingrate, Limbaugh is also a lout. In 1993 he called 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton "the White House dog." If he does MNF, I doubt he'll say anything as racist as Howard Cosell's "look at that little monkey go," referring during a 1983 Monday night game to Alvin Garrett, a black receiver for the Redskins. Rush takes great affront at being called a racist, though that didn't stop him from making this observation a few years ago: "Have you ever noticed how all newspaper composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?"

Hey, Aero, that was just fair, balanced, and objective journalism when Rush called Chelsea a dog.
What about his three-day rant about Gephart, referring to him as "Little Dick" each time?
What about his reference to Kerry as "The French-Looking Kerry"?
Face it, Rush is a quote machine.
