I had a girlfriend who say a total jerk, a-hole guy. We would tell her: leave, leave, get out. It hit deaf ears. Her friends started avoiding her, cuz we got sick of hearing her crap.

One day she finally decided she'd had enough. Maybe it was the day he was almost choking her over the sink. Or the day he hauled her away from her school office in front of the buses letting kids out. I don't know why or how, but FINALLY she had enough. Thank god!

That guy had problems, too.

I hate to say this But it really felt good to say it. I'm not a mean person, I love everyone and for me to say that took me 4 years of hell.

I will miss the kids dearly, but I thought alot about what you gals/guys, my firends and family told me, is that they are not your kids!!! Someday they will remember you and what you did for them.

That is when you will be tested.

Here's some more advice:

Move if you can. Make it hard to be found. You probably can't do anything about your job, but let your boss know you're not taking calls from her (or the kids) and she's not to be told where you are.

If you can't move, get a new phone number and make it unlisted. Has she ever threatened you? Do you have proof? If so, get a restraining order against her. That way, if she does come by, she'll be in violation of a court order and she can be prosecuted for it. You may feel funny explaining to the cops or to the judge why you need the restraining order, but if you feel threatened, there's not reason not to get it. If you're successful, then someone trying to get her kids can use that as evidence of her extreme psychological disturbance.

If she should come up to you in public, be careful not to lose your temper. If you feel yourself losing control, walk away.

Get an answering machine if you don't already have one. Sometimes they can prove invaluable, as people like her tend to leave threatening messages on them. Great fodder for the cops.
