quick question for the ladies on here. How many of you would go to meet someone for the first time wearing no make-up. She knew we were going on a short hike.

I meet a this woman for the first time Sunday morning. We went for a hike then had breakfast afterwards. She told me sorry for not wearing any make-up but since we were hiking she decided not to. I told her that was ok since I never wear any either. She got a chuckle out of that.

The meeting went well and I will ask her out again.

Ewker,

I go on dates without make-up. It just depends where we're going. Of course, I'm an old lady whose given birth to three children. There's something about having your legs spread for all the world to see your body doing this alien scenerio. So much for humility! Yeah, I figure you should let a man know up front what he's gonna see first thing every morning for the rest of his miserable life.

:o)

I never wear makeup, be it first date, last date, in between date, hiking date, dinner date - I don't own any makeup anyway.
oooops - I did buy some clear nail polish this weekend, but that was for scratches on my bikes. :)

I think that just about everyone I've met and dated was through some activity like running, skiing or hiking where they didn't have makeup on in the first place. When we'd finally go out somewhere, like dinner, I'd almost not recognize them.
In most cases they looked better w/out makeup.

Weekend Update
After my great letdown of not being able to see Jon this weekend, I decided to go hiking. I actually found a group of people from backpacker.com who were backpacking and decided to show up there on Saturday morning. They were going to hike 7 or 8 miles, camp in the back country, then hike the last 2 or 3 on Sunday. I joined them but decided to do the whole 10-mile loop on Saturday. Met 5 nice guys from "over there."

And then, glory hallelujah, it turned out that my super awesome most-wonderful-man-in-the-world BF got a 28 hour pass that started at 6 p.m. We had SUCH a good time. We made up for the lost time. Went to a hotel and, darn it, they only had the hot tub suite left for the night. :D Yeah, Baby!!!!!! And we spent Sunday hanging out with each other until 10 p.m., even spent some time at Dick's and Galyans and bought some gear. I love this man.

What a great weekend it was: hiking and Jon and gear shopping.

I know, but I feel like after all my b1tching on Friday, I had to give an update on the situation.

One of the other fun things that happened was that we gave a ride home to two other soldiers on Saturday night. So for 30 minutes or so I was in the vehicle with 3 hot studly soldiers in uniform. The really cool thing was that Jon, as an officer, is their superior, so the two guys in the back seat were sir-this and sir-that to him the whole ride. What a turn on for me. I am one lucky girl.

sunshine, trailtrekker & twigeater, I think most women when they reach a certain age don't worry about makeup.

Younger women haven't learned that yet.
I prefer a woman who wears a little or no make-up. The ones who pile it on remind me of clowns..ducking now for the ones I offended

I never wore makeup Ewker, I think it depends more on the woman than her age.
I admit when I was young I would ocassionally try, but it was PITA!

I'd like a boyfriend that hiked with me, but I really don't think of hiking as dating. I'd prefer to be taken out to dinner or the movies or to listen to music on date, and I like putting on my makeup to go out. Dating is supposed to be romantic. I don't wear much makeup hiking - most of the time just lipgloss, but I don't feel feminine, nor do I want to, out there climbing over boulders and sliding in scree.

Though hiking is a pre-requisite for a date, maybe a big hike isn't the best idea for a first date. It might totally turn him off to see me out of breath, sweating like a pig, blowing my nose santa clause style, and shovelling food down my throat all stinky, dirty, and bloody from bug bites. Though if that's the case, he's probably not for me anyway. :)

I know I'm not comfortable going out to dinner on a first date. I'd way rather hit the arboretum for a walk in the woods and a picnic or something.

It saves you from having to carry tissue on the trail, and from having to keep a soggy handkercheif in your pocket. I'm all for snot rockets, as people who have hiked behind me can attest.
