Stinging Feet
Took a killer dayhike up on a local mountain named Peavine (yes like it is spelled, pea vine). After several hours of up and down hiking and countless stream crossings, and did I mention about 30 minutes of serious off trail navigating, I get back to the trail head. After a short drive to the house, I take off my boots, and the bottoms of feet start to sting. The pain was not muscualr or related to twisting an ankle or any other injury, it was the skin on the bottom of my feet. After taking a shower, the stinging went away.
Important details:
1. Pretty much new boots (second trip)
2. Just finished warterproofing treatment yesterday
3. Boot brand, Columbia Rock something, forget the whole name
4. Used ScotchGuard heavy duty repellent

Anybody else experience this? I did not notice it until I took my boots off. First time it ever happend.

Pins and needles?
Was it like when a body part falls asleep and the blood begins to flow back in to the said body part? Or was it like burning? Any discoloration? If it is the latter it could be some chemical reaction. Or it could be an allergic reaction... did you change laundry detergent (or softener) you washed your socks in?

More like when a part falls to sleep, and then the blood start to flow again.

R.E. stinging feet
my feet do that alot when breaking in new boots or boots that just dont fit quite right. I think its because your feet are sliding around a little bit inside the boots and the friction causes the bottom of your feet to sting. it never bothers me until i stop and take a long rest , they its like somebody built a fire under my feet!!! adding some thin insoles (even doctor sholes) usually helps

Ditto what StreamW. said. I bet it's just breaking in the new boots, they'll mold to your feet as time goes on. Wear them to work/school for a few weeks to help break them in. Sounds like it was a fun dayhike. :-)

Tanx for the input, I'll just wear the boots until my foot molds to them LOL!!
