Want to do around a 4-5 day trip on the northern part of the PCT. Could anybody give me advice on when to go, what's the best sections, etc. It will be next year.

Maybe somewhere in Washington state. I'm not sure about the time of year. Maybe early summer.

The Three Sisters area in Oregon was really nice, Glacier Peaks, the north Cascades (border south to Stehekin) and Goat Rocks areas in Washington, Section P from Castle Crags State Park to Etna in northern California - all are good short sections to do - late July to early September. Other parts of Washington are supposed to be nice, but we didn't see a lot of them - too much cloud and fog. But the hiking was good anyway and we will go back and redo the state.

ginny, if you had only 4-5 days to hike which section would you choose?

Hi back at ya biz. Are you visiting for fun, or on a biztrip?

I haven't been in touch much, been dealing with aftermath of computer crash. Lost lots of e-mail addresses so it's taking awhile to get back in touch with folks. Drop me an e (if you still have my addy) so I can re-add your address to my book.

As I said, I would recommend any of the five sections I suggested. All were really nice. It is hard to recommend five day sections, because we were doing such big mileage through there, it doesn't really compare with a leisurely vacation trip. For us, 5 days was over 100 miles. I don't know what 5 days is for you. But if you have the guidebook, check the areas around Glacier Peak, Three Sisters, etc. and see if you can work something out. Seems to me that loops would be possible in some of those areas.
