Follow Up to Summer Trip?

“My trip is in late may/early june. We can't go anywhere there is still real deep snow on high passes. We're bringing along a newbie. As to what we're doing we're backpacking and maybe bouldering. We live in Lawrence, KS and are willing to drive up to 15-17 hrs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
